Dynamic Duo Do Dorrigo

Well the beauty about this trip was that the plan we had was really no plan other than head in the direction of Dorrigo in NSW, taking in whatever dirt roads we could and that at arround 4:30 pm we would find somewhere to camp.

This would be my first overnight trip, my first time on the dirt with a bike packed for bear and first time on the dirt with the Vstrom DL1000 with a road tyre on the back wheel... Lucky I have brown underwear.

Ipswich QLD 2:30 PM Friday the 13th, (my lucky day) must be coz all the other dayz are crap, Joe aka Chuck coz he's on a BMW 1200 and likes to pull wheelies,,, sigh I guess that makes me Urine ,,, well at least I did not drop my bike.

Anyway I have digressed,,, back to 2:30 PM,,, Chuck I mean Joe arrives at my house I am ready to go.

Off we head in a southwardly direction to Boonah where we stop, refuel then head out towards Queen Mary Falls. The dirt arrives alot sooner than I thought with Carneys Creek Rd.

Me on the Strom Somwhere between Carneys Creek Rd and Paddys Flat Rd

Chuck's I mean Joes bike Guess Where ? Actually one of the many times he stopped and waited for me to catch up. Thanks Mate

This is the same Bridge where the bikes nearly got washed off in one of the Motorbikin DVD's

As it was getting late we decided to camp here for the night, there were other people camping too so we moved just a bit further down from them.

Our Campsite for the night,, all week I have endured from work colleagues how we were going to freeze our tits off... Well sorry to disappoint it was not to bad under 24 layers of clothing,, seriously it was alot warmer than expected. We thought about a photo standing in the creek in shorts to prove a point,, but lucky we did not pack any.

The Next Day The sun came up (well fark me just like it does everyday except that we were camping) , the fog slowly burned off, everything was covered in heavy dew so we spent some time munching muesli bars and drying out tents as best we could.......

In the fading light of setting up camp we thought our tents were on level ground, in the night we discovered this was not so

No Camp is complete without a fire and ours was no exception

I like this picture

We purused the map and decided to head to the Thriving Metropolis of Tabulum for a slap up feed, a cafe latte to appease the BMW rider, fuel for the bikes before making our way down Clarence Way towards Grafton.

Bloody Muppet

On the road again

Oooh a cafe in Downtown Tabulum thats open with coffee and food for the weary traveller

Cafe Latte without the Latte ewwww Seriously if your ever in Tabulum avoid the coffee like the plague

Bloody BMW riders and there makeup

Anyway after refueling and the disappointment of Cafe et de tu Tabulum, it was time to hit Clarence Way to Grafton before our tapeworms starved to death

Those of you who know Joe will understand these photo's

From where we came 'Tabulum'

Exactly Midway between Tabulum and Grafton

Where we are headed 'Road to Grafton'

Arrived in Grafton Finally good food and coffee

Fish n Chip next to this one makes an excellent hamburger

Little did we know at the time the relevance of Ebor

We followed to road out of Grafton (Orara Way) to Coughs ok Coffs Harbour then turned off onto the Eastern Dorrigo Way,,, a windy twisty bitumen then narrow at times gravel road making its way through State Forests ,National Parks sometimes open country sometimes closed in rain forest

Truly an awesome road for adventure bikes

More to come

Quick check of the map by the master navigator , Joe, then it was off to Dorrigo

First part of the Eastern Dorrigo Way was predominately bitumen

We made it to Dorrigo, road was a blast,, stopped and refueled at the servo and asked the Lady where would be a good spot to camp in Dorrigo, she suggested a few places but recommended riding on to Ebor Falls as we would be disturbed at by some of the locals in Dorrigo. Quick trip across the road for a beer for Joe and a Scotch n coke for me.

So off we went light was starting to fade just as we arrived at Ebor Falls with enough time to setup camp and then....

Joe Cracking his tallie after a long day in the saddle at Ebor Falls

Cheers

Ebor Falls is awesome, really worth the trip

Stay Tuned More coming

Great ride report but I give up what was the meaning of
"Little did we know at the time the relevance of Ebor"
Looks like beautiful country out there.

Just when I took that photo did not know we would end up in Ebor

Original destitnation was Dorrigo,, but on advice from the lady at the servo we discovered a great 'free' camping spot and fantastic bacon and egg burgers in Ebor.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"
