Congrats on your registration. T-shirts and stickers would be a great idea. Also, I've always loved the way Jonah has accepted donations to get your name on his bike.
In terms of Paypal, it is such an easy way for people to contribute, that it would probably be worth your while to accept the fees as a cost of doing business and hope for an increased number of transactions to offset the transaction fees. Good luck!

And I'll look into Paypal more closely, as I agree it is probably the simplest way - my concern is that they will block the account if they start getting too many similar payments, or it goes over a certain amount (they want you to upgrade it to a business account... J x |

Regarding Paypal, is there anyway you could spin this effort into a charitable effort that could see you take advantage of some tax breaks and service-fee breaks?

Raffle tickets and winner keeps the bike ? I bet you could pay that bike off and a chunk of some other expenses. I for one would throw down a couple of hundred bucks for one of those tickets. Just a suggestion, would certainly get you some of that cash your looking for

Good Luck!
Hey J Mo, excellent news!
This is a huge challenge for you, the greatest of our sport. I know we have all come to almost 'expect' amazing ride reports from you, pictures of the drama when most of us would be concentrating on just riding and daily 'Rally Radio' updates. As if 'Dakar Time' wasn't good enough we now have your adventure to look forward to and follow. I guess we will have to be satisfied with any updates you can share with us along the way but your focus has to be getting in the best position to achieve your goal. We're all just happy to be along for the ride!

I don't want to sell it as it is still such a great all-round DS bike, and of course a pretty awesome race bike too if you're brave! I have a lot of fond memories of it from the USA and the Heroes-Legend Rally last year... but it really is the only way I can raise a significant amount of cash in one go... Oh, exciting! Definitely subscribing to this thread!
Almost a shame that you're entering with the WR, I would have loved to see a Tenere complete the Dakar! Though I admit it's probably a bit silly to do so.
