Back to the BMW Family: proud owner of a 1975 R90S/6 Daytona Orange
Decided to return to the world of BMW motorcycles but this time in the form of a R90S/6 (previously owned a R12GS). I've always enjoyed the older R series bikes and started to really get into them of late given that my nephew is restoring a 1974 R75 himself (kraut.burner, complete teardown). I ultimately decided upon (or perhaps stumbled upon) a 1975 R90S/6 in the Daytona Orange paint scheme, and what appears to be a very well kept one at that. My plan is to enjoy it on select Sundays (i have two other motos, Ducati's) and to restore it to original condition (see below). I'm sure you'll be hearing from me more and more (I still yet to take delivery of the motorcycle, JC Shipping is on the task), and I look forward to getting to know some of you along the way. Here are some snipets of what I learned about the bike itself, pictures will follow once the motorcycle arrives at my home.
Owned by a collector of cars and motorcycles, a physician by trade
He is third owner of 7yrs, New Mexico, only put 1k miles on it, started it and warmed it regularly
Second owner had it for 21+yrs out of Minnesota, supposedly never ridden in inclement weather..no pitting/rust whatsoever
Routine maintenance performed
The bike has original paint, and is "near mint". Never down, abused, damaged. Any blemishes/scuffs are minor at most.
Everything works as it should. Springs, forks, seals all xlnt with no leaks.
Original BMW logo factory hard black bags in great condition with keys and inner soft bags.
Original complete tool kit, and owners manual.
Tires have plenty of life
Am told that the only non original items beside tires and battery, are pipes and shocks.
Any thoughts and comments are most definitely welcomed, thanks for reading.
