Buying a bike in The Gambia
So I'll be spending six months in the Gambia starting in January. I'll be living in Brikama taking classes at the University. That being said, I can't imagine going six months without riding a motorcycle, and I'm not interested at all in bringing my bike over. Ideally, I'd love to buy a cheap, well used bike there, I would imagine for around $2,000.00 U.S. and either selling it at the end of my stay or possibly donating it to a friend or something (pretty much anything but bringing it back home haha).
That being said, how should I go about this?
Should I actively go looking for one, or should I try to make the purchase through someone, er, not American haha? I'm guessing if I walked up to someone looking to buy a bike, they'd probably charge me more than a local looking person.
Is this a reasonable price to expect to find a bike?
What kind of vehicle registration is required in the Gambia?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
