NC title issues

So I am looking at picking up a BMW bike from a guy who bought the bike new but never registered it. He has the MSO from Daytona beach BMW and the bill of sale form the dealership. My question is will I have issues when I go to NCDMV to get a title? I was hoping I could just reassign the MSO to myself and that along wiht a bill of sale would allow me to title the bike.

Anybody have any experience with this?

sounds correct unless law has changed. Possible there's an extra fee.

Update us & good luck @ NCDMV.

It looks like i can't use the MSO as a title unless I am the original buyer. I am going to check with the local BMW dealership and NCDMV and will let everyone know what I find out

I am going througha similar situation in trying to find a title. 86 CT 110, 0wner has passed in nc they are strict and process takes a while...goes something like this.

Get surety bond for 1.5 value.
Go to local dmv theft division to check your vin
Inspect
Insure
Send paperwork to Raleigh dmv
Wait
Issued temporary title
Good to go.

Or I am tryinga different route. Register in Vermont and switch to nc. Takes about 2 weeks and$100. They don't care where you live or about titles. Check their dmv site online.

You will have to pay sales tax on the original purchase price/that's what he avoided.
