Sticky400SM adventures

This thread started as 'Fresh detail on the SM but I couldn't keep it clean' but I've decided to change it to an ongoing thread with pics from various adventures that the DRZ has taken me on.

These are from a trip through the Truckee/Donner train tunnels in early October 2010

Control burn near Stampede Reservior

Started the ride clean and planned to keep it off the dirt

Hand crews working the fire...might be doing this next summer.

After a trip up Old 40's twisties the dirt was calling me...I've seen the old train tunnel before and always wanted to explore the area.

It was a little creepy rolling solo....

It took some work to cut this tunnel

Daylight was nice...the tunnel was a bit chilly

Donner Lake

The view was hard to beat

Running low on fuel and hoping to make it to 89 but the dirt road turned into the Pacific Crest motor vehicles allowed and I'm only 3 miles from 89. Probably could have gone for it and know body would have known since the SM doesn't tear up trails but didn't want to be that guy.

Gotta love the view...

Heading back into the tunnels

Next section ahead and more tunnel in the background

Up the street from my house

Thanks for sharing sticky - looks like a really interesting place to ride, how's the SM on the gravel/dirt? I want my next bike to be as versatile as possible, and have been eyeing these machines......

Anyhow, nice report - if I ever make it around your parts, I'm gonna seek out that tunnel! Pics are great too...that SM sure looks pretty sweet in the dirt!

Let's see some more!

It's not as bad as you'd think in the dirt as long as you're comfortable sliding around a bit.

Here are some pics from a few other dirt adventures it's been on.

Out for a swim at Boca

Little bit of snow in Dog Valley

Riding the redwoods on the Sonoma County Coast

Sunrise Creek trail near Verdi Peak

From Sunrise Creek trail you can see Hwy 80 between the trees and NW Reno in the background

The first multi-day adventure was Usal Rd/Lost Coast

Perfect tool for dry lakebeds

Exploring a bit around Pyramid Lake

The Virgina City area is full of fireroads, great pavement and cool stuff to check out

But let's not forget the fun you can have on pavement with a SM
