out on the Foresthill Divide

Last Saturday I had a chance to take off and get into the high country.
First, I went up to an old camp site, Secret House.
(there's helmet cam beginning at the 6 min mark)

Then second, checked out the burn area. (hand held camcorder)
Think I'll go back tomorrow as I'm in the middle of some bike mantinence on the Triumph today.

So lucky to be able to ride away from it all at short notice

I appeatiate your comment.
My thing is to tell a bit of a story, have some fun with it, and share it.
Not the most exciting stuff out there by far but my hope is that folks enjoy them.

Just 'bout every outing is a day trip for me, so "day trippin" is a good thread.

Been meaning to check that burn area for quite some time. The fire was 2 years ago. The area used to be a mainstay for me in the 70's. Multipal trails going down to the river. Trails that were originaly "skid trails" from mining days. At the bottom of the Mumford Bar trail you could ride the bluff 13 miles up stream and exit the canyon again on the Sailor Bar trail.

Then...
The American River closure act!
The North fork was designated a wild and scenic river. No motorized vehicals. Thus the area was less visited. (by me) Since though, they have put in an OHV trail system in the area that is extensive. But with the rise in ohv usage since the 80's, the tendancey to gas it, the power of todays bikes and the aggresive riding style we use now. The ohv trails are deeply rutted and have tremendous washboards through out.
And look out! I know of at least one death from a head on collision on loop five.
RIP Joe Lodemier
