The adventure begins!

I just picked up the R1150GS, and managed to ride it across Madrid without incident! I'll be posting a bunch of photos in the next few days, so all you Alaskans can stay tuned, and be jealous!

Wicked

I made one big mistaken assumption about this trip, and that was that I would find a web cafe on every corner just like in Mexico. Wrong! I'm back in Madrid now, and I'll have to wait until Thursday or Friday to post some pictures.

The MotoGP races were awesome! I was there with at least 300,000 of my closest friends, and we all had a grand time. Can you imagine the entire population of Anchorage packed into a couple of square miles, and then all trying to leave that area by two little two lane roads? I'd say that more than half of those folks were on bikes, and let me tell you they bring new meaning to the term "lane splitting"! I also know for a fact that a Honda Veradero can stand to be pegged against the rev limiter for at least ten minutes with no apparent problems. This fellow was a bit drunk, and at every stop on the exit road, he'd rev it up until somebody gave him a beer, and it took almost 2 hours to get out to the road, so he was a bit hammered. I don't know if he made it past the traffice cops, because they have a very low tolerance for DUI here.

I'm not trying to make a snap judgement here, but after 2,500 kilometers in five days, I can say that I like the V-Strom much better than the GS. I know this will light a few fires, but that is my opinion.

Photos to come soon.

Well, actually I am. I can't download the photos at work, and had a bunch of problems trying it at a friend's house. Spent last week at the E&O, which Legion decided to skip. I think I'll move the photos to a CD ROM, then upload them from work. I promise to get it done real soon!
