DR650SE information index- what say ye?

OK, I think I have a plan, here...


I've started a little project, and I need some help from the DR650 collective. The goal is to improve accessibility to information about our favorite motorcycle with a listing in the The Bike Specific Index Thread, which is a sticky on top of the Thumpers page.

I've come up with several different topics that I feel cover most of the important aspects of the DR650SE. For each category, I'm going to start a thread, and ask you to share what you've found to work best.

The first three threads are up. CONTROLS/INSTRUMENTATION, SEATS, and
CRASH PROTECTION. More will follow.

This idea isn't meant to diminish the DR650 Thread, either. I check that thread at least once a day. The DR subforum at TT, I might check once a week. There's kind of of a compelling fascination seeing our thread grow... and grow...



The only thing I'd ask of the mods is to put the proposed DR650 index in this thread: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366046 with the other bike specific index threads.



The index would be in the Bike Specific Index thread that's stickied at the top of the Thumper page.

Once the existing posts have been indexed, keeping up with the subsequent posts and links would be a piece of cake, relatively speaking...

am I missing something why is the index thread not stickied?

thanks eakins! I would hate to see krustys work go to waste, curious as to why there is not more response to them? is everybody just too hung up on the DR thread?

i think since the individual posts come in and out of the first page and it's not listed in gadget boy's list alot of dr owners miss it.

krusty needs to finalize the work on this master thread and then it can be posted in the dr thread often and remind people to add to it.

There's still a ways to go before all the catagories can be called "finalized". Some are close, like "seats", but others need more "meat" on their bones, IMO. I may have been quiet here the past few days, but I haven't forgotten this project by any means. Please be patient with me. FWIW, I've done about 98% of this endeavour on an iphone, and my eyes ain't what they used to be...

I do like the idea of listing the catagories on the first page of this thread, and I'll tend to that directly...

I'll look over some of the threads to see if I can add anything, but so far looks like its all been covered very well. The beauty of these individual threads on an Index is they don't contain too much info ... and hopefully stay on topic to that specific area. If they get TOO LONG ... then they won't be useful to anyone ... especially Noobs.

If/when a thread becomes repetitive, I'll ask a mod to close it. If some new, great item or technique comes along, it would be added, of course.

Krusty, have you taken a moment to see what the thumpers forum index looks like when you bump a dozen of your threads to the front page? I think the idea of so many "index topics" is fucking retarded, but at least do us all a favor and don't bump them all at the same time. How about you have one leader thread that you can bump however often you want and use it to drive people to the individual subthreads?

Oh sorry for not wanting half of the threads on the Thumpers forum index to be generic numbered DR650 info topics when I check in to see what's going on in the morning.

I'm with you, since this is such a great idea let me start one for the KLR650, XT600, and TW200 at 10-20 threads a piece. And let me bump them all in one day! That will make this forum so interesting and useful for everyone.
