Thought I would share one of my rides after lurking on this sight for so long. I guess you could say I am hooked.
Left from bakersfield was planning to take the pass up and over the mountain but with the lack of skills and a worn out trailwing common sense got the best of me.
This was the end of the pass for me.

I live in Bakersfield also and did Sherman Pass on Nov. 7th. There was snow on the sides of the road up near the top. I knew it would not be much longer before it would be closed for motorcycles. With the storm coming in this weekend I have a feeling riding the high mountains might be over with until spring has sprung! Glad you enjoyed your ride! This picture was taken at the same spot as yours. The rock is in the bottom of the picture.

Shhh, not so loud! Sherman Pass Rd is one of my favorites. From Fresno, we run up 190 out of Pewterville along the Great Western Divide Hwy, cross the Kern River and climb up to Sherman Peak, then down to 395 through Kennedy Meadows and 9 Mile Canyon Rd. Best kept secret in the area (until now).

There's tons of side roads along that route that I have yet to take. Guess it'll have to wait until next year now.

That was my planned ride to make it to the 395. This was my first time on the pass so I guess its looking like next year. Took the great divide hwy down to California Hot springs still a great ride though.
