Iguaçu Falls

Até agora, Iguaçu Falls has been GREAT...

The hospitality of Rodrigo and the flawless organisation of Brazil riders made this a trip to remember...

Looking forward to go further south into Santa Catarina.

Ride Report Brazil Riders Meeting

Hi guys! Last year , on november , i came from Cascavel , after another meeting of Brazil Riders , with the promisse of go on the 5th International Convention of Brazil Riders , happened on Foz do Iguassu . Well , i´ll try to explain most about the trip and what happened , plus show some pics about the trip. By far , another great weekend. Thank you Raf and Mike for accepted my invitation and for Alex , that i meet on Foz.

Getting ready for the trip. Raf is on the picture

On the road...

Quick stop 17km to arrive. I´ve put on my Garmin the address of Hotel , but , again the gps lead me to somewhere on green fields. We followed the road back to downtown and we arrived at hotel suiça , our meeting place.

Meeting place - Suiça Hotel

KTM from chile...or argentina (the license plate is different than others argentinas´s bikes...my guess is chile...but i can be wrong)

Left - Mike me and Raf on right

Near border crossing to argentina. my first one.

We get escort by argentina police. They closed all traffic lights for us , a group of 400 motos.

Look the license plate...any guess?!

At Argentina side of Iguassu Falls. by far the most heat i´ve taken before...we need to get tickets to enter in the park and we spend about 1:30 hour on a f... lane stand in the sun...to get the ticket.

Entrance of park

Wood and steel bridges of park. Lead to Falls

I saw lot of that birds there

Butterflies enjoy Raf hat!

This bridge fall down after a huge ( i dont know the word) something like raise the water level very quickly after a rainstorm....and i noticed that this bridge is 3 meters more higher than the actual bridge.

The place is "packed"

Meeting on duty free shop...on argentina.

My Honda NX350 near huge BMW GSA.... yeah i dont get embarassed!!!

On the road again. On the picture we can see a blue bike on right, is Alex on a Suzuki Freewind

Trip to Itaipu Hidro-powerplant. For me is a gift , i saw lot of documentaries about the construction. Is forbidden to enter without guides from own Itaipu. On this day we are free , riding thru the dam , the view is incredible.

Top of Dam view

Behind you can see the lake. Without end...on horizon line..

We entered at tunnel hitting the horn and making lot of noise! very fun!

The concrete inside the dam is still drying. Amazing..

The water passes thru this giant tubes to the turbines house.

Each tree planted on this site is dedicated for each worker that die on construction process. Has some one part of trees , because if Itaipu plant tree for each one...dont get enough space

3 frontiers landmark

Well i hope dont get much spelling errors and thank you so much for everyone that i meet on this trip.. i hope see all soon as possible. Obrigado!

Thumb You forgot one picture.......

Remember the last picture before your battery died???? Are you going to post it also????

Thanks for posting the Itaipu dam pictures....I forgot to take my camera for that ride. One thing that a picture can not show is how big the dam is. It must be...miles across. Riding on it made me feel so small. Like an ant. A very tiny ant.

One thing I really like about Brazil riders is that all different kinds of riders were there. Dual sport, cruisers, sport bikes and even a couple of volkswagon trikes were there. It did not matter if you drove a Suzuki 150 or a BMW 1200 or a Harley everyone was treated like family. This would not happen in the ststes (USA) where motorcyclist tend to stick with the brand (Harley, BMW) or type (touring, sport) or motorcycle you ride and generally do not mix well together.

I look forward to the next Brazil riders event.

Shipping bike from Rio to Ireland

Hi everybody,

We are Trevor and Eva, two up on a GSA 1150, and just got to Ushuaia having started in Vancouver a few months ago. Since we have some time left we were thinking on continuing our trip as far as Rio and then ship or airfreight our bike from there to Ireland, rather than from Buenos Aires as it was planned originally. Does anybody have some experience on where to go or who to contact about shipping agents, airlines, etc... and how long this process takes.

Saludos!

I do not know about shipping bikes from Brazil but.......if it is like everything else here you will be better off ($$$) shipping from Argentina or Chile. There is a 100%+ VAT tax here and everything other than food, booze and housing is outrageously expensive. I think it would be time well spent finding out how much difference in price is between a couple of countries here.

I live close to the coast way down south in Brazil so let me know when you are coming by and we can meet for a beer or?????

Cheers,

Mike

Guys,

what an awesome trip you had!
Riding through the dam was fantastic!

My favorite picture is that of the V-Strom in front of the dam:

Rodrigo,

I think you shoud copy your post and paste it in a Day trip report thread

Abraços,
Linhares

You are welcome, Trevor.

I found it very funny the FACTS AND FIGURES section of your blog:
Most frequenly asked question by locals: 'how much is the bike?'

Ride safe!

Abraços,
Linhares
