I took them with a Canon G10. Most Canons have a "Night Scene" mode, which I used on most of them. Only difference between shots was the Flash. That mode is fast enough to catch a good night shot without a tri. Thanks for the comment!

![]() Aliens who mix up feet and metres just like NASA! ![]() Strictly unrelated to the tag, the hair salon on the opposite side of the street looks like this: ![]() ![]() And yes, they were created by the same people, a couple of rather talented Turkish brothers who run a sign writing business. One of them, Urdel, used to work with me before he joined his brother full time. eepeqez screwed with this post 11-24-2010 at 03:47 AM |

Making the rash assumption that botched space exploration by aliens is acceptable, the new tag very nearly eluded me. I saw these guys on the way out to St Kilda to get the tag and thought this might be suitable. Then after getting the crashed rocket at Smik, I went for a long wander and when I got back I just caught the last kite surfer coming in as I parked my bike about 7pm:
![]() If you look carefully you can see the guy holding the kite strings is no longer surfing and is making his way up the beach. Another view: ![]() So the new tag is NOT kite surfers, that would be evil. Just a kite will do: ![]() Bonus points if you have also just bought a new battery and forgotten to put the side cover back on the bike. |

Grab!!!
![]() ![]() These were shot on an iPhone 4, in "Parque de la Paz" @ San Jose, COSTA RICA. Families come here to fly kites with their kids on Sundays... You can notice they go to the top of the little mountain where they can grab some good winds!

As does your climate too... I went and checked a map to see that you are in fact north of the equator, though it's probably the dry season rather than winter? |

The eagle eyed may spot the sign behind the bike in that last view: In fact that is the home of Vegemite, where they take the scrapings from the bottom of the Fosters vats and turn it into a culinary delicacy which should be spread thickly on toast. ![]() |

Did anyone spot that in the southern hemisphere roundabouts go the opposite direction?
![]() Next is something which I suspect is uniquely Australian: See the strange grey cube in the background? Shades of 2001: A Space odyssey here. Lets get closer: Any idea what it is? Closer again: Surely someone has got it? Here are the instructions: You push the button and the light comes on (to tell you when it goes off) and you get about 10 minutes cooking time. Then when your food is almost but not quite cooked, you push the button for another 10 minutes. It's a public BBQ. They're common in public parks all around Australia. Here you see the nearby picnic table and in the background a toilet block. There will usually be a drinking tap on a post somewhere nearby too. The local council cleans them each morning when they service the toilet block, so they're always reasonably clean. In the first photo on the bench of the table you can just make out a magpie; a large and intelligent carnivorous bird which is very easily tamed and rapidly learns that people + BBQ = sausages. The tag: If these things exist in your part of the world, then the tag is a public BBQ. Another style of public BBQ that you occasionally see in Australia, usually in public camping grounds, etc, is a brick or concrete fireplace with a fixed plate or grill to cook on. If public BBQs like this don't exist where you are, try for something that's culturally equivalent. I know thats a pretty broad definition, but I don't want to stop the thread in its tracks, so show us how you prepare dinner in the park... |

I found a website for the manufacturer of the unit shown: http://www.dachristie.com.au/ I'm curious to see if they exist outside of Aus & NZ. I was reading something about airhead starters on here recently. My R65 has the original Bosch and really appreciates a healthy battery and clean terminals eepeqez screwed with this post 11-29-2010 at 01:56 AM |
