I need airhead sage.

I have a 1982 R100S in need of new (straight) forks. I'm having a tough time tracking down a set that are exactly the same. Mine have dual Brembos up front.

Can I buy a set of forks such as these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Forks...Q5fAccessories and swap my lower legs onto them?

No, the only thing that will work on your bike is the triple clamps.
That's it.
Waste of money.
What's bent?
Usually it's just the chrome tubes, sometimes the clamps too.

Tubes are bent, clamps are all twisted up. Once I replace the forks somehow, I'm just hoping not to find a tweaked steering head.

When I look at fiches on MAXBMW they show both the ATE and Brembo lowers for the same year bike, the chrome sliders differentiated as well?

i'd go ahead and pull the entire front and check the frame if you're worried about it.

Frank's Forks are good. Bob's BMW has them and the other parts you may need as well.

It's on the list of things to do. I'm in the parts collection phase of this bike right now. I'm knee deep in a head change on my DL1000 currently, and I have a valve adjustment on my ZZR-600 as my on-deck patient. Only one body on the table at once.

Anyone have a good method for checking true on the steering head?

Thanks, I sent an info request to Frank's Forks for the required parts. Bob's BMW had an incomplete R bike section on their website, maybe I'll check back with them soon.

Thanks, those are appetizing, especially knowing they are nice clean examples. I honestly can't believe that I was able to find a correct set of gauges for cheaper than I am going to be able to piece the forks together for. Definitely an eyeopener as far as parts prices compared to previous Old's Cool bikes I have resurrected.
