ABS sensor interchange - how to check if they will work?
I have a complete KTM 990 Adv front end on my BMW F650 twin and want to make the stock ABS system work. IMO the cleanest solution would be to use the KTM ABS sensor and bracket if possible, and then just make a little adapter harness from spare male+female connectors. This would keep everything plug and play with a factory look.
I already checked and the number of slots in the trigger wheel (is that what it's called?) are the same. Now my knowledge is very limited when it comes to electrics. From what I understand, ABSystems use hall sensors that create some current when the metal passes it. Of course I have no idea if the current is the same between various sensors (at least both KTM and BMW use Bosch) and how I can test whether they would interchange. I have a sweet Fluke 87V voltmeter (Ebay special ) and have absolutely no clue how to use it.
Would appreciate any pointers, as my only other idea is to hook everything up and go for a test ride in 5" of snow. At least I would know rather quickly whether it works...
Thanks in advance,
