I have started building my igloo for Christmas but the dog sledding in September around Calabogie is poor. Here are a few photos from the 07 Calabogie... ![]() ![]() ![]() These are from the trail ride. The Dual-Sport ride is kinder and gentler so you dial up whatever you want. There are some Level 5 expert-only single track optional sections (eg. The Land that Time Forgot) if you have a desire to break things off your bike and then there's Woody's monorail, a slick, narrow, nasty length of corduroy log bridge over a big swamp. Drop a wheel off and you're in for a bad day. Thankfully it is also optional so if you mess it up you have no one to blame but yourself.

Sorry I ended up riding the Coronado National forest. Great riding you have here!! ![]() There's lots of rocks in AZ which gave me a bit of scare. One morning I walked out to the bike and saw a puddle of oil underneath where the sidestand would normal be (I relocated it to prevent my engine case from cracking).. I freaked out thinking I somehow still managed to crack my engine case . After much cleaning I finally realize it was coming from my gear position sensor and not the case!![]() I also now can understand why Don hates GPS so much. They don't work well in AZ. It seems that every land owner has the roads by their property gated off so that the public can't use them. IMO It really makes getting around tough.

I'm thinking a Suzuki 650 V-Strom or the 690 KTM though I would never here the end of it from my so called KTM "buddies" if I bought a Pumpkin after dumping on them all these years.

WoW! Mexico looks awesome! I love the fact that you did it. I say most people are most people, thats why most people will never go there. I live in South Africa, and you get similar shit about Africa.
Its the few like you who go upstream and get to see the view from the top. Great ride! Awesome pics! Harry |

I've been back for days (1½) so it's ok to start planning. Besides that was Eastern Mexico.

A Bridge Too Far
There is a new, proper bridge across the river but if you are there in the dry season you don't need it. I was headed over to meet the other riders at the bridge but didn't make it when the road was blocked by an angry cow that wanted to go in the direction I had just came from. There was the river bank on one side and a very steep hill on the other so there was no place to go other than forward or backwards.
I spun the bike around before the cow decided to charge (the head was down and the cow was stomping the ground with its hoof). I had enough experience with cows from my highschool days helping at my friends beef farm to know these were not good signs.

Is the new bridge north or south of where you crossed?

Bridge at Chinipas
The bridge is approximately 1 km to the north of where we forged the river...

I have crossed that river in several locations but never that far north. If we decide to go to Chinipas in March I'll check it out. |

Just open and close the gate and continue. In Arizona gates don't mean anything. Locked gates do, but gates do not.

Hey CC, How have you been? That's what I was thinking, but then they make it real intimidating with all those "Private Property" signs. I also don't know the gun laws in AZ, so I thought I better play it safe.As I'm sure you know in GA just about any one here can carry a weapon.

Great report Bill, you have a writing talent and can ride a motorcycle pretty well too!
I suck at this stuff, been trying to find Batopilas on Google Earth, no luck! Chris is the only one I know that sucks at this worse than I do! |
