I think it's possible... after ENOUGH beers, that is
But I still would prefer the KTM.

Ural with a sidecar!

A bike with a sidecar comes in handy after drinking a lot of beer.

Saves me from

2 stroke power

This is from a trip to Mexico.....20+ years ago. 1983 Honda CR480. It was so hot we did not ride mid-day. So we had an early morning ride and a late afternoon ride.

We spent the day in the shade drinking beer.

The afternoon rides were a little bit faster and tended to have bigger jumps for some reason

Thanks for the invite but I will have to pass on this one. Just sold our house yesterday and will need to be here to sign papers etc. Due to the holidays we will be here, in Jaragua, for another 2-3 months. Looking at renting a house in Itapema for about 6 months and then go to Rio for a month or so to see my wifes family before going back to the states. I will miss living here but the cost of living (with all my toys) is just too much.

Yeah... looks awesome... apart from the beer part - or maybe just a few - , it looks like a trip I would have been glad to have been on

Great news selling the house! maybe now you find a place on the beach, like you told me , plus beaches from SC looks very nice... you can excercise , run on beach , etc...
IŽll see you on your new house on new years day or still in jaragua?

We will still be in Jaragua for at least 2-3 months. Partly due to the holidays so things take longer. We are going to look at Itapema/Bombinas and see what we can find close to the beach. I will need to do a lot of running on the beach to burn off all the beer I have stored

Another RR...

Hi All,

Here's the RR on my trip to Araruama last Sunday... All asphalt and no bad stuff happened, so I guess it will be a little boring

I'm looking forward to start another 8 day trip on Monday.

Cheers
Raf

Hello Brazil riders
I am a Canadian who has riden from Canada to Panama and return twice.
Now I would like to ride in Brazil for 3 months and then maybe other countries in S.A.
My question is about buying a bike say 250cc in Brazil as a tourist. Has anyone any information or recomendations. The other option is to ship my F650.

Hey Cal, bikes are a little pricey here in Brazil and it is a little complicated to purchase not being a resident of Brazil.
It sound like Chile or Argentina is better to purchase.

Shipping into Brazil is also more difficult than other locations.
Again, Argentina or Chile are better.

From my research it looks easy to buy a bike in Argentina and Chile but difficult to ride it out of the country you buy it in!
Other travellers seem to have done it but information is hard to come by.

Hi Cal!
I Heard something about buy a bike on Argentina and cross to Brazil . YouŽll stay for 90 days here , like a visa , when expires you return before to Argentina and renew, on border crossing... like i said i just hear a chat about this iŽll try to find a reliable info. for you. Keep looking this thread , we have lot of "outsiders" here participating that have more experience than me . When you arrive in Brazil keep us posted , we can share much miles as possible. Good luck and send news. Rodrigo.

The tax in Brazil makes everything crazy expensive. My 2010 DL650 cost me about 17K USD

If you just wanted to stay in Brazil I think your best bet (cheapest) is to try to find an inmate who wants to sell their bike here. I have seen a nice used KLR for about 3K USD. You would have trouble crossing boarders as it would not be in your name....unless you worked out something with the owner.
Crossing boarders with a bike that is not in your name may/may not be possible and will most likely be more of a PITA then any $$$ you may save buying a bike and not getting it registered in your name. But....Brazil is a large country with beautiful beaches, jungles, mountains and deserts. So you could easily ride around here for 3 months and not get bored.

Other then that I think your best bet is shipping your bike to Argentina.

Good luck.
