This will be interesting: the $17,000 Yamaha vs. the $30K+ factory KTM!

I love what Jenny's got going on with her Yammie, tested and evolving from Tunisia. And of course, Neil had a few hurdles with his bike in the Dos Sertoes, but all-in-all a good finish and stead.

KTM, Yamaha, BMW, Sherco, Husky, Aprilla.... (what did I miss?)

So, it's going to be more than interesting to see how these bike work out during the rigors of the upcoming rallye's and then the Grand Daddy Dakar!

cheers! to all the riders and all the teams that will be living an incredible challenge between now and mid January!

You missed Honda, there are a few kits available now, I saw the carbon fiber Dutch build on Patrick Trahan's bike, very nice but spendy. I might be going to Honda myself this year. I know patrick is working on some rally light builds for some events in 2011.

The Dutch Honda's will run a large 1 piece rear tank like the beemer, as will the Aprilia.

Zanotti to test in Egypt and Honda started testing on Saturday.

They will run a smaller front tank and 1 piece rear for weight distribution and they both are nice sleek bikes again.

thanks. So, Patrick is with Team Honda Europe again this year?

Fretigne as with team Yamaha - France, now with Speedbrain - BMW.

Does anyone know how these "factory" teams, which are country or region-specific, are organized? Does this mean that the funding does not come from global HQ, but rather the company's national HQ? Do they get engineering help from the factory? If anyone has first hand knowledge, I'm curious?

Patrick was the only Canadian to finish the Dakar in 2010 and he does a bunch of different work projects with honda. He's on his way to check out the Shamrock but not as a competitor in October.

I will be working with some italian or maybe the new kit from mecasystem.
I am not going to ride the Dakar. But I will put together a team for Rally Morroco for next year!
Including training in the dunes of Morocco. I dont want to compete with any european team or american team for Dakar.
But just want to make sure that I share my passion about rallye and desert!
So keep posted and let me know if the rally of morroco is an interest.
We will be riding RED!
