The "Blow the Cobwebs out" ride
Not having been on a decent ride for a few weeks, I new it wouldn’t belong before the men in white coats can a calling.
So with a few days rostered off and all the domestic duties taken care off, it was time to go for a ride.
The weather forecast wasn’t very encouraging and sure enough it didn’t look to promising as I headed off
Overlooking Newcastle, with North Coast in the background
After leaving Newcastle I headed for Karuah and the Old Pacific Hwy and on to Branch Lane for some dirt action
know dirt rides complete without a timber bridge or two
From Branch Lane it was onto Bulahdelah byway of Booral Rd and if you like your twisties tight this is the road for you (pity the road surface is in such a poor state in parts). Sorry no pic was having way too much fun.
Just out of Bulahdelah the old Pacific Hwy has been renamed “Wootton Way”, they can call it what they like, for with all the traffic now out on the boring stretch of concrete that is the Pacific Hwy the old road is a bike riders paradise. (just watch the leaf litter)
Back on the Pacific Hwy at Coolongolook to Nabiac for a refuel and a coffee, and then hit the Bucketts Way to Gloucester
Looking back across Bucketts Way, from Gloucester lookout.
Noticed this on a fence post at the Lookout, anyone care to explain its meaning or otherwise
Looking over Gloucester and Gloucester Tops
After Gloucester the plan was to have a look at the old timber trestle bridge at Monkerai, unfortunately the old bridge is in a pretty bad way and was unfit for traffic. But the detour took in some great country on a tight, pea gravelled back road so all was not lost.
Not the type of farm animal you expect to see in these parts
The rest of the days outing seen me roll through Dungog, Clarence town and Maitland before heading home via Kurri Kurri and Sugarloaf Gap.
With just under 500k on the speedo and not a cobweb in sight twas a top day out and not a drop of rain in sight, got to be happy with that.

The orange does grow on you. You will not notice it at first..but it starts with a few innocent KTM stickers,.progresses to a KTM key ring, to KTM coffee mug and next thing you know, you have gone completely mad and start wearing orange tee shirts. It is a very bad infection..is this yeast infection (Bronx)

The marking on the post looks like Govenment Survey Marker. (Reference to a survey peg in the area).
I could be wrong.....But that would be a first
Looks like you had a great day in some of the best bike riding areas in Australia IMHO.
