New Year's Day SMIB Ride

So unlike the 20+ ride reports in 2010 I posted on the SMIB Thread... I thought as a New Years resolution, I would start posting here and linking to there so my fellow inmates could load the page in less then an hour. As you will see, I like to put you in the bitch seat on my rides

Click Here for Map of the route.

So as planned, the SMIBs who got a day pass headed for brunch at Panera Bread... here I spotted a nice ride for a cage that is.

The typical crew... EOD3MC, Blaster, Dorito, and me.

Now off to explore one of the most interesting places in Southern Maryland. Follow along Route B - F on the map.

Here we stopped off to check out a little of the history in these parts. For you lurkers who stumbled onto this post... Southern Maryland offers much War history during 1776, 1812, and 1860. In typical fashion we learn a little about the area every time we set out on a ride.

Now back to my house for some beer and DAKAR videos. Dorito had to tend to her other hobby... so it was just the boys for the rest of the trip.

I led the rest of the way back... such the reason for all the vanity photos of Blaster and EOD.

Hope you enjoyed the trip. Special thanks to the inmates who joined me on another memorable ride and Happy new Year SMIBs!

Did you hang around for the post-party about 1600ish? I passed through on a handsome chestnut horse...

Nice weather for a New Year's day ride. Let's hope it will be this warm when we head over to Laurel Fork in April.

Yep, Myrtle Grove is over 1200 acres. With the exception of the shotgun seaon 2 weeks a year, hardley nary a soul out there. With the show season ended, nothing put kicking our heals up until springtime.

Break Break--

Lance, you forgot to mention the most interesting factoids:

The pink quartz is only mined in two locations in the country (somewhere in CA, and ME?)

Rose Quartz I should have clarified to North America... also found in Brazil like most minerals that are gem quality and with any quantity.
