I know what your saying and I went out to the shed and had a look, the camera angle does no justice to the job though. I have got plans to mill 4mm (just just over 1/8) off the face where the brake pedal mounts and the master cylinder mounts, this will make things a bit better and bring the pedal and master "inboard" so to speak. I was curious to test the crash angle and it layed the bike on the ground with the foot peg folded up to check the angles out and the rear master is a long way away from hitting any thing, I would have to land on a massive odd shaped rock or log to do any real damage. We will see what happens when I have a few shake down runs.

This is a linishing attachment for a bench grinder.




I have contacted the dudes that make that fairing and they are going to send me a cover only. I want to make a similar one or buy a second later on to put on my wr 426 Maby with a diferent light so keep you eyes peeled over the next few months

Wink machining the brake brackets

Went to a mates place to do the finishing touches on the rear master/footpeg backet. After laramine LC4 had a few questions/surgestions I am going to move the master inboard approx 4mm. Also there was a heap of excess material taken off to reduce some weight



Here we are removing some material to make the back of the bracket flat in preperation for turining it over to machine the other side parrallel



Here we are removing 4mm from the bracket so the master and pedel will not protrude too far out from the bike. Not quite finished tonight so we will finish them tomorrow and have a go at fitting them in the next few days.

Cool2 lets get control of the situation!

I have had a pretty positive couple of days

First I got the bolts required to mount the new pro taper bars.
Did a bit of swapping around and fitted a new pro circuit clutch lever to my YZ426F and took the old yz clutch lever off, put it on the monster and gave the 'domino' lever (shown previously) from my old husky the arse!



Next was to start working on the pegs and rear brake a little more trimming, grinding and linishing (sanding) and I now have this.




As Laramine mentioned they look quite vulnerable but they are tucked away quite neatly and I'm very happy with how they turned out.




The master and lever don't protrude too far out from the frame and with a small alloy cover bent up to cover the master all will be good and hopfully quite tuff.

that sounds bad this frame is an 84 or 86 I think. I had a look at the original pegs and there seems to be a lot of leverage because they were mounted so far forward but these seem to be right where they attach to the frame. Any more info would be awsome

83-84 models had the habit that standard pegs were on the small side....and i was looking at the nice one's you put on will only make a possible problem worse

look at the area of frame they mount too....(trying to remember) do they mount to a flat plate or is it a tubular type of mount i "think" the early ones had a flat plate(a bit like a triangle of steel between the tubes) type of set up and everyone welded a bent up bit of flat to make a brace for it....although lots did this after they let go they ended up looking very messy

Still it was fixed by Yamaha with in those two years....probably not a problem but something to look for
