Went for my first decent ride in....let me count..10weeks ...yikes

Had lots of fun ripping up the beach....


Pulling lame wheelies...


Watchin Jims 9fiddy bite the dust...and bend a break pedal...we all done that at some time!!



And finnally after a long 5hrs of adventure...I parked up under a nice bush while the 9fiddy brought me some more gas

Hi SD. Is that front mudguard off a 950 by chance.
Got any pics of this area from the side?
I have a friend gifting one to me this weekend and would like to know if there is any cheap ways of mounting it.
Someone gave me a link to rally management services who provide a bracket kit but i can't really do the $170 US plus freight dance required to get one.
What about a bent beer can or similar?
What did you do/ would you recommend?

Also i've noticed on your first post that you ran a SCORPION AT ( MT 90 ?? )
I am fitting one on Monday (rear only - still have left over Mefo explorer 90 on the front ).
I hope to get a few more bitumen k's from this over the Mefo super explorer which gave 6000k.
Your opinion please would be appreciated just for the record.

Mines a 990 guard...similar only differnet cable connections...950 guard is probbably better. If you search this thread you can see a photo of one of my mounts. I made them myself out of 3. x 30mm & 3.x 50mm aluminium bar...took me 3hrs...a bit fidly to do but no worries if you take ya time. Cost was $20.00 for the bar, bolts & lock nuts. I looked at the rally manmnt stuff but way to expensive when added to the cost of the guard...least yours was free!

sorry didn't see that bit . I replaced the Scorp (AT90) for a tkc 80 after about 3500klm but it still has heaps of tread left. It is a great tire for light gravel and road...some people have gotten 7-8K from them but honestly....it depends on how hard you ride them. Mine has has been used 70% road 30% sand & gravel, and has minimal wear after 3.5K.

mate...the 690 was lazy boy chair comfortable with the sheepskin even after 700klm! No fuel problems this time, thanks to the new fuel tap. Did get stuck in soft sand a couple of times but had a blast with the 9fiddy boys!

so now that you have a pile of miles on the adv bike vs just r. what has rattled loose, broken on wear and tear. how is the bike holding together?

Well I'm no engineer but she seems to be holdin together! Probably the only thing I will be looking to improve is the GPS support as the Zumo 550 gets shaken a bit on real hard rutts. But I expect that would happen no matter where it was mounted.

My panier supports are a work in progress only because I think there is a better way to do them....but the current prototye is working well.

The front fairing is taken a lot of punishment from "bush bashin" and the like but is still solid likewise the front guard.

If I could afford a wings exhaust I would go for it over my power core 4 which is noisy!! Even with a factory silence fitted I still where ear plugs but its better than the stocker.

In all I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with the set up....there are better ones out there....Rally Management Systems Rally replica is awsome...but way more pricey than my humble budget can afford.

My biggest frustration is finding tires that will last longer than 2-3000 klm with some decent off road capability....arhhhh theres always something to whine about hehehe!

no worries at all...actually sits better on the road...and bit more planted for faster shingle tracks....front end lifts easier as it empties though
