I'd hazard a guess that the theory of "something is worth what someone is willing to pay" plays a not insignificant part. 150/17 tubeless is and has been a BMW GS standard for years...

I see much discussion on the rear K60 due availability and size concerns. Any feeback on the 21" front. I thought it is pretty bad. Was OK on road, though noisy for the size lugs. Off-road on anything but hard pack was like running a street tire. My worn out TKC had more traction than the new K60 Front. I sure do not understand all the hype on the K60. I'm wondering if I am alone with this assessment. I would not buy the K60 front again. It does not show any real wear after 2500 miles and that is good. It'll go on the Flea market and I'm getting another TKC.

For those that thought the 150 would be here in the spring:

The 150/70B17 is not available now.
We are in test with new designed tires and hope to be ready for start middle of 2011.

Have to agree about the K60 front ... didn't like it at all, but it wore out pretty fast so I didn't have to put up with it for long!

Still like the 140/80 rear, I have a TKC80 on the front. Pretty happy with the combination so far.

My first set of K60's front and rear lasted forever....well over 18000KM and they had many more KM's left on them....my new pair have over 5000KM and look brand new!

I suspect that the 19" K60 is a better tyre than the 21". I haven't yet found a truly great tyre for the front of the 800GS. The TKC is looking promising.

The 800GS is also the hardest bike on front tyres I have ever had. With the K60's the rear 150 lasted 10,000 km with a bit left and the front went 8,000 and was totally stuffed.

Ain't interested in a front TKC80. The majority of my riding is still pavement-based, and I can't stand the v-v-v-v-v-b-b-b-b-b-r-r-r-r-ations.

David, I've been running the TKC front and K60 rear combo for a while and haven't had a vibration issue. Sad to say, but most of my miles lately are 54 miles of free way to work and back at 80-85mph and I've never had a vibe issue. What kind of pressures were you running? I know when my front gets a little low because it starts to feel a little twitchy.

It's not any sort of wobble or twitchy handling I'm objecting to, Monster, it's just the standard vibrations (and howl) you get with any knobby tire. The K60 has less pronounced and more closely spaced knobs, so less vibration. Yes, less traction off pavement too, but given my on/off pavement ratio, I'll accept the tradeoff.

I am running the Shinko 700 Front and Heidenau K60 Scount 140x17 rear. IMNSHO a great combination. I was concerned about vibration but the folks at MTC in Las Vegas did a superb job of spin balancing the tires and they ride like buttah on the slab.

I liked the feel of the front in the dirt it hooked up pretty well and did not wash out in turns like the B'stones & Pirelli's.

I am a happy camper......
