Dorrigo weekend

This is a weekend camping trip to Dorrigo in August. It was bloody cold(apparently). girl 60 and I were snug as. But our travelling buddies were not as comfortable. One fellow bought a new bed and it was to big for his tent so his feet and half the bed was outside the tent. .We meet up at Woodenbong(isn't that a great name for a town) by 10am. Us coming from Toowoomba and the other riders coming from Brissy. I didn't get alot of photos.
This is on the road between Tabulam and Grafton on the Timbuura River. My wife and I have camped here. A very quiet spot.

My wife and Don skipping stones. He is unbelievable. 9/10 skips every time.

We then rode to Copmanhurst for lunch. A lovely little pub which hadthe best meals.( not as good as girl60of course)

From here we went to Dorrigo. The mate om the 1200GS had a new way of staping his tent onto his bike. Seemed to go fine until I told him he was getting abit low in the corners. This is the result.

You guessed it he had a hole in his new tent. We thought it was funny, he is still to get our humor.
Our camp site seemed to get a little(alot) messy. I spose you all have site like this. Well i hope you do.!!

This pub is owned by Russell Crowe(so I have been told). We had a great feed here. Camped at the Canoe Center. What a great camp ground. It was also warmer than the night before.

Yes that does all fit on the KTM950.
The best esky(container to keep beer cold) I have seen. There is still ice in the morning. No beer though.

Because we rode with sooks, had to make our way to the coast the next day. Pottsville, what a great spot to camp. Will have to go back and stay a few days to ride around the area. Went across the ferry at Lawrence and onto Pottsville.

The bikes that we rode with, a R1200GS and a F800GS.

We all had a ball. Of course we dont do it often enough.
Hope you enjoy. Some of my RR could be abit old. I have only learnt how to do all this in the last couple of days. Bear with me please.

These are some photos from the weekend. The pub at Copmanhurst

Our camp at Dorrigo, it was a nice park though the owner seemed make you feel what nuisance it was to have us there.

This my pillion in a million. She puts up with alot from my mates and I.

This is us being a bit silly I think.(It wasnt my idea)

Home , with another good weekend of riding behind us.

Hope you have enjoyed this RR as much as i did riding it.

Boy60, great trip & pics. I am having trouble finding Paddy's Flat, is it Pagan's Flat by any chance? Did you take the Clarence Way from Tabulam to Copmanhurst??

Nice pics and RR, and some funny synchronisoty for me in this thread, with nearly all the places you mentioned meaning something to me.

Nearly bought some land in Tabulum, and back in the 90's helped a mate set up a bit of a protest / arty website related to the gold mine there and the impact on the Timbara river. I was only up there over Christmas too, did some fossicking up near Glen Innes.
The road down the range from Glen Innes to Grafton is interesting enough, but one of these days, when I'm up there next, I want to road Old Glen Innes rd, which snakes its way all over the place through the mountains from Grafton, goes through some tunnels. My memories of it that a lot of it's unsurfaced but that may have been "fixed" now.

My mother currently lives near Copmanhurst, and we go to that pub for a meal every now and then. There's a few neat little spots to explore on a perhaps lighter bike, down near the creek.

My grandparents used to live in Dorrigo, but I was only young so I don't know the place very well. Spent some time there as a kid though.

And I lived in Pottsville for 8 years as a teen, grew up there. It's a nice spot, but the urban spread has really ruined it. It was a nice coastal village, but now it's just about all mcmansion developments from Wooyong up through Tweed and into the Gold Coast. Thousands of acres of the stuff, all the roads widened, straightened, and smoothed so that you feel like you could just about be in any other place on Aus when you drive through there now. I almost can't visit Pottsville now as I prefer to remember how it used to be.
