OK ... big day. We got the engine going. It would be my *guess* that this hasn't been started since 2004. That's the last time it was registered, and according to the PO ... during the summer, he heard a *pop*, and then he couldn't get out of 2nd gear.

He took it apart and there it sat.

SO. A BIG THANK YOU to Hardwaregrrl, bgoodsoil, Blaine.Hale, and baldwithglasses. They all showed up today and shared a hand in the wrenching.

Blaine took loads o' pics and has some real funny ones ... so we'll let him post. But as she sits now ... she needs work on the driveline. The shaft needs replacement (I have it) and we need some lugbolts. There will be some other things we need ... but I am WAY tired ... and I will shortly go to bed.

Oh ... and I think I've settled on a name. 'Dobber'.

The tranny mount, the seat pan, the end of the bars ... the side of the tank ... behind the tank petcock ... Mud Dobbers .. everywhere.

blaine took pictures. fred talked on the phone. Me and Len made sure the beer got drank and Jenna did all the work

hey blaine, the right side bolt holding your license plate on is loose. I noticed it while you were rocketing away from me on the way back from the pizzaria

Looks like a fun project. If you perhaps decide you don't need that seat cowl luggage rack, I would be more than glad to take it off your hands.

Haven't y'all heard that joke "how many bikers does it take to get a basket case runnin'." But seriously, that isn't completly how it went down. I've been blessed with well running airheads and am from the school of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." So it was with great pleasure I was able to tinker with one I could walk away from. Learned a lot, thanks Fred! And it was the first time in 20 plus years of riding bikes to be working on one with so many fun people. Thanks guys, got me out of the house
