Things to see riding from Calgary to Kansas City, KS?

Hi inmates

I am planning a summer trip from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Kansas City, Kansas. I am planning 10 days max (work, wife... can't do longer) and am wondering what good destinations are along the way and if anyone can suggest a good route/routes??

Thanks in advance,

David

Off the top of my head

Wyoming:
Yellowstone
Grand Tetons
Jackson Hole

Colorado
Pike's Peak
Estes Park
Central Colorado in general

36 hwy out of Denver across Kansas to St. Joseph, Mo (Pony express route) is a good alternative to interstate. The geographical center of the U.S. is just off highway 36 in Kansas. Hwy 2 across Nebraska to Lincoln is a nice ride. Carhenge is in western Nebraska on Hwy 2.

Both of these roads will take you to I-29 and then its only a couple of hours into Kansas City.

Be sure to stop by...

Hey, absolutely. Be glad to help.

The year before last I did a ride to northern Alberta then down the west side of AB through Grande Prairie, Grande Cache and Hinton back into Edmonton where my buddy lives with his stable of bikes (08 1200GSA and others). We met a lot of guys coming back from or riding to AK in Grande Cache. Good route to Dawson Creek.

Also rode up the ice fields parkway (beautiful riding and vistas) from Calgary to Jasper last year - really nice ride.

Feel free to let me know when you're coming through this way and you're welcome to stay at our place - we have a couple of spare rooms.

cheers, David

In addition to all the good sites Nail listed:
Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump - I had to go there based on name alone, but I found it to be a really cool place to visit.
Glacier National Park.
Both are closer to your home base, but if you've never been there check them out on this or a future trip.

Cheers,
Greg

Thanks MapMaster - much appreciated.

We've been to "Head smashed in" as they call it here and agree it's neat to see. it's only a couple of hours from Calgary so easy day trip. Nailit2em you might enjoy that as a da trip from here if you're here for a few days.

Will check out glacier and have some good places to start researching now,

thanks guys,
