I had one of those! Same year,size,model. That bike was a blast. I rode it everywhere, to work, on the motocross track, the dez, school. I ran it so long that I had to resleave it after the last oversize piston then picked up another cylinder and went through all the overbores/resleave on it too. Great bike.

yeahbutt, both are super easy fixes and won't cost more than a night on the town. Plus, after fixed it will be way mroe fun than a night on the town!

I didn't have any carb cleaner. Maybe a jet was clogged.

We pulled the muffler off and looked into the exhaust port. There were streaks down the side of the piston. We had a bright blue spark and still couldn't get it to fire using starter fluid. I emptied the float bowl, there was a lot of water in it. We're getting fuel to the bowl. Jenna checked that with the bowl drain. The slide's moving fine.

Jenna got the good 2-stroke oil that's made for oil-injection. Changed the oil in the sump. 20w50 dino juice motorcycle oil. I kicked it with the muffler off and they saw a flame come out. Even with the low compression I expected to at least get it to run badly but it didn't run at all.

Putting on the Sherlock hat: I'd say somebody older owned this bike and they gave it to a nephew or a son. That guy happened to be a stoner teenager that runs it into a creak and causes all kinds of mayhem in the top end. Worst case scenario: bore the cylinder for $75, get new pistons and rings for $50.

Anybody know if a TS250 top end will fit?

good looking little bike, rings,oversize piston, bore. Have you actually priced pistons lately????? I bought a Wiesco for a MT250, prices are frigin' ridiculous.

Nope. WORST case scenario is rusted crank roller bearings, conecting rod needle roller bearings on both ends. I hope it's NOT the case, but I've done a few sleds that were sunk and set. The transmission calls for 10-30 oil, not 20-50, JFWIW when you get it running.

jenna found a manual on-line that called for 700mm of 20w-40. It's GA, seemed better to go to the warm end of things and use 20w-50 rather than 10w-40.

I hear ya on those crank bearings. The oil was pitch black so it was old but it wasn't milky. I don't think there was any water in the bottom end. Jenna drained it into a pan then poured it into the oil catcher looking for shavings. She said it looked good. So far I haven't seen anything to think there's anything wrong with the bottom end.

If you're getting a flash out the exhaust, check the timing. I'd guess that thing has points, start with the gap, then static time it.

2 smoke compression is different than 4 stroke compression. The piston only starts compressing when it passes the last port, which maybe 2/3 of the way up the stroke, unlike a 4 stroke, which starts compressing when the valve closes.
60 PSI doesn't sound too low, but then it's been a while since I checked.

Once you get it running, use Silkoline light gear oil in the tranny. It treats me well in my trials bikes and I run it in the primary on my Norton. Far better than any dino oil for the gears and clutch.

Next time we're sitting around a campfire, remind me to tell you a story about launching old enduros into lakes.
