The roads should be clear enough to meet somewhere on 26. East always seems to be better this time of year.
Meet at Govy, Huckleberry Inn? 9am?
But I could meet more towards you side, too. Whadeveryawannado.

Edit: Govt. Camp for Monday is a bad weather idea. Will decide location later.

OK, think it'll be icy though that early? I can be there but worry we may not find much outta snow territory. Have you any idea where to ride from there? John

Yeah, it likely will be:

Government Camp:
Monday

Snow
Likely
Hi 31 F

So, never mind the Govt. Camp meetup for Monday. That would be pushing our luck for sure, it would appear.
I was just thinking of the ease for you coming from Boring.

East just has less rain, and is warmer this time of year.
On Monday's Forecast for mostly everything East of me says 45-50 degrees and "chance of rain",
which usually just means a partly cloudy day with some misty sprinkles at most, out this way.

I'll dream up a route very soon, and post it here, and open invite it.
Are you into more gravel/dirt, more pavement and distance, or a good mix for the most fun?

I could meet you downtown Hood River? 10am?

Hood River is fine. And I would say for my money dirt and gravel. I will already be getting the pavement on way over there.

Bump Quote for tomorrow's ride; Friday the 4th:

Brookhouse (church?)
Freebridge, where a road still leads to the Deschutes River to where a "Free" Bridge once was around 1910.
We'll see a tribute/statue to the Old Oregon Trail, that passed right through here 170 years ago,
Then the trainstops of Emerson, Wrentham,
and then Rice and Boyd.
Then ride Tygh Ridge to Tygh Valley

Here's a 1933 Metzger map of Wasco County, showing the old Rail Route along 15 mile Creek

Then, I'm thinking I will get done there early enough to easily ride
the gravel road that follows right along the wild Deschutes River from about 17 miles North of Sherrars, then goes to about 8 miles South of Maupin.
So, This Friday's Ride on March 4th.
Who's IN?

and.....
Monday's Ride. March 7th.
This ride is going to be a little more gravel/dirt oriented, and while we're still heading a bit East to better our chances,
we may still have to modify this ride on the fly, due to snow levels at higher elevations.

The Goal; Washington Gravel:

Lyle, Hwy 142 to the first Klickitat River Crossing
Appleton, via Fisher Hill Rd (gravel)
Klickitat, via Old Appleton Grade Rd (gravel)
Wahkiakus, via Hwy 142 (Hwy for about 10 miles only)
Centerville, via Schilling Rd. (Gravel)
Dallesport, via Old Dalles Mountain Rd (gravel)

From here, we'll head across the Columbia into The Dalles, then,
Mosier, via 7-mile hill (paved to top of hill) to Dry Creek Rd (gravel)
Back to Hood River, via Huskey Rd and Elder Rd (gravel to top, paved back down)

Start 10am, downtown Hood River.
Asrvivor is already in, anybody else?

Highly likely.....

...I will be able to join for this ride, what it really depends on is this: will my "Dual-Sorta" be able to handle all the gravel roads?

Wait, I already know the answer....OF COURSE IT WILL!!! It's just a matter of you "fancy-bike" owning FF's being ok with me trailing behind....

I could just meet ya'll in Lyle.....

Let me know, oh, and what's the total mileage for this ride?

One more thing - If any of you gorge locals are bored this Saturday night, my band will be rockin out at Everybody's Brewing in White Salmon.....9pm......

"Dual-Sorta", That's a good one! I'm not in a rush to go anywhere so you would not be the only one at the back if I go along!

Not to sound like the ultimate asshole here (although I am) but are you saying firs off that there are bands around here and that they rock? This idea intrigues me so please tell me more.

Apparently.....West is the other East....or something....
Uh yeah (oops). I was thinking of riding I-84 to Celilo to Moody, and the gravel back WEST to Petersburg.

Riding home from Sherrars? We have to ride home? Can't we just keep riding forever?

The way home, when left open ended (or ignored), is always decided by committee .
In other words, "Duh, I dunno , I haven't thought about it"
Really, everything, and every part of every ride, can and shall ALWAYS be decided by committee and/or idiots.
Twist my arm, I'll go!
I just wanna pick something initially that sounds like enough fun to get somebody excited about riding with me . From there, I don't care .

I'll presume you meant Monday's ride.....Sure, Lyle it is. 10:30 at the Convenience Store in Lyle, "Lyle Mercantile"?

The Shadow with street tires has ridden all these roads before, except Appleton to Klickitat, and there is an easy pavement workaround for that.
But that might have nothing to do with what we find on these roads....in early March. But I'll never mind waiting.
I don't know total mileage, I just peeked at the Atlas, and never Googled or GPSed it. I'm thinking a 200 or less guess for Monday.

I'm pushing this weekend's wifey limits to the max already, and even though I'll likely be bored at home watching TV with wifey,
that'd likely push me over the edge, or I'd be seein' ya at Everybody's !!
Good Luck, have fun!
