How do the epcos do with panniers? Do they sit at the same height as the stocker pipes? Anyone have a with panniers (krauser or any other) mounted and epcos underneath?

Sorry, I tend to answer my own questions:

More Epco eye candy, same seat as my bike, kind of:

Looks like a lot of guys that don't run panniers like to flip the mufflers for a higher up sweep...I think I dig both looks but I do tour

Blaine,

That is the standard mounting location. Nothing's been flipped.

They fit with bags mounted, no problem.

Hey, I used to race against that guy! He was freakin' fast for someone his size, too.

When we finished be modifying the exhaust at Willow Springs we had 73 HP on the CC Products dyno. It is by far the biggest horse power 750 motor I have ever built. It also doesn't hurt that the pilot is an animal on that thing.

So I basically have to order something this month. Criteria:
Stainless is a must
I do like a slightly louder than stock sound
This bike will go cross country August
Must fit under panniers (Haven't decided on a set but I don't like Krausers)
Must fit stock mounting points with no modification
I'd prefer not to rejet though I'll happily re-tune since my bike technically tuned where I want it after the rebuild.
2-1 is kind of ruled out at this point

I'm leaning towards the epcos but the hoskes are attractive too. Headers are kind of a no brainer decision, so long as their stainless etc etc.

So that criteria given, does it change anyones thought's on what would be a good match for the bike?

I have never seen a muffler that mounted to the stock location that didn't work with saddlebags. I am curious to see what you do for bags. I have the same issue.

There are a few manufacturers outside of the USA that might be worth considering. Keihan, in the UK, offer a stock sound, and the Jim Cray designed straight thru mufflers. This video doesn't do them justice.

The wind hum and the popping are a distraction, and they're not as sharp sounding if heard riding by. I've had them described as sounding like a BSA Goldstar and a Spitfire plane! They are loud, but not so bad. I always use earplugs regardless.

Keihan stock innards...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeQv-...eature=related

Staintune here in Oz are excellent quality, but the price...these are the touring version.

Overlander, also here in Oz, are SS and have a deeper than oem sound. They remain unobtrusive, but distinctive. It's a more base sound than oem.
Sorry, just a price list.

Blaine,

Have you seen these Jama Inox pipes.

I love the sound on this video, and they are stainless. I am thinking hard on these for mine. Need to find a source.

There's a set of Epco sports on ibmwr.org at the moment for $300.

Arrived in a digest e-mail I flushed an hour ago.

Maybe there's a time lapse between the e-mailed notices and the site update?
