I don't think this tire will square anywhere near as much as the 140/80-17 K60 does. Squaring doesn't come from the tread pattern as much as it does from the profile of the tire on the rim. The reason that this Big Block tire won't square as much is because not only is it the correct size tire for the rim (150/70-17), but it is a very wide and round profiled tire. This equals less squaring. The problem with the 140/80-17 K60 is that not only is it already a much narrower more square tire than the 150/70-17 Big Block, but it's also too narrow for the F800GS rim. What this does is that when the tire is installed, it's profile gets forced into an even more narrow tall and even more square profile.

Yup, we'll see. Unfortunately, it's going to get a lot of street miles this month due to work.

Hmm the initial reports from the 12gs thread look promising.

Who's going first? I only have 700 miles on my TKCs but since my f8 is new I may end up smoking those in another 1000 miles or so.

It looks like Amazon.com has several pretty cheap buying options.

I have a rear 150 on mine. About 50 miles so far and it's been great!

Well, I have 2567 miles on my TKC and it is pretty worn. not too many miles left in her. I need to order something soon to keep on-hand. (Never had a tire with such a short life-span, even on my sport-tourer.) I might have another 1000 miles.
Although I love the TKC's road capabilities, but I do plan to try out the big-blocks. I'll be jumping on them very soon.

James, I have tad over 3000 miles on my TKC, and maybe just a thousand left. For $104 thats a great price compared to TKCs. And I'd like to have a fresh rear tire installed in time for the Swinging Bridges ride.

However, I've received notification from Basin Cycles that the Heudenau Scout may be in the States within a couple months... That remains to be seen... So, I may just order a BB.

I have 350 miles on the pair, no real sign of wear. This tires turned the F8 into a trencher if not careful. I tend to use 2nd gear at low speeds, this gives great traction with out spinning.
Not riding to crazy on pavement. Riding a lot more dirt, enjoying the bike more than ever.
I was worried about wearing them out before DV but they seem to be lasting.

Yeah, I usually got between 3-4k on when I had TKCs on the 640a at around 55hp. I think I've been a bit power happy for the last 700 miles on the f8 and am going through the TKC pretty quick.

I still have the scorpions the bike came with that I will mount for the first leg of my Alaska trip in June so I will probably just bite the bullet and get another rear TKC for the BC part.

I don't feel totally comfortable experimenting with new tires while traveling. I'm sure the Kendas are of good quality and characteristic but I know what a TKC feels like at the limit, on wet stuff and everywhere else.

However, when I get back I'll be out of money and rubber so I'll probably mount a set of the Kendas.

I have never bought tires from them but I have bought a few helmets.. jackets etc. Always good service.. standard shipping can be a bit slow but they are on the other side of the country from me.

I put some Kendas on my old XT 600 that had about a 60/40 street/dirt profile but more aggressive than tourances or the scorpions. I have had them about 1K miles and I really liked the way the worked on the street and MSF course turning exercises. They lean well and did not seem to fall into turns like the straight knobbies that were on the XT when I got it. They also work pretty good in the soft sand up here. I was looking them up for my new F8GS and I couldn't find them but I ran across the big blocks. I'm definitely watching to see how they wear for you.
