As far as we can tell he was not an active ADV member. He was from Kingston Springs just outside Nashville TN. The news report blame a high rate of speed and rider error. My State PD contact (who is a rider himself) blames too much bike, questionable maintenance and lack of experience. All in all it's a sad story but for once the trucker was not at fault.

Man I tell ya....fast bikes in the hands of inexperinced riders is a risky situation. I'm not a big street bike rider. About 6 months ago a friend showed up at my house on an 800 (I think) crotch rocket. I thought "sure I can ride this thing....I ride all the time".

That bike was a totally different beast than I'm used to. Rides nothing like a DS or woods bike. I knew right away I needed to be real careful getting that dude back to my driveway. And talk about fast....that thing got to 80mph in about 5 seconds . . . . .

May God bless that rider's soul.

No Kidding!

Power to Weight

Those bikes will beat cars off the line and then some down the track - Lamborghini, Porsche - just about every super-car in the world is smoked by those super-bikes!

You rode a machine that would take a Million Dollar McClaren off the line ...

I have been riding street bikes for years and years-

In Nashville for the last three or so and met quite a few people who do the street thing. None of them knew the GSX rider either.

I find myself having a VERY difficult time keeping my most recent "crotch rocket" at reasonable speeds (read relative to traffic) so I decided to pick up the XR650 and get my thrills elsewhere for a while.

I hate to hear about any rider going down and not surviving.

Oh - and although I sold a bike to get my XR, I still kept the "crotch rocket" that poisons my mind
