23 creek crossings in 2 hours, SE Qld. Australia

Some nice weather got me out to explore some dirt roads in the Mount Byron Reedy Creek area,
was all new to me and I did not expect so many creek crossings! some easy some not so easy.
Riding my BMW F650GS
(photos cut from video off my helmet cam)

I'm riding alone so being very carefull not to drop the bike

Got my eye on that big rock on the right

Cows ahead waiting to see me cross the creek

Another couple hundred meters and another creek and more cows

Hard to see the best line to take with the low sun in my face

Very shallow but very rocky

This crossing has 2 lanes, I took the one to the right, it was a little deeper but looked a better base

I was now thinking maybe this is the last creek crossing at last

But less than 5mins later another one

And then this one which was one of the worse, deeper and a steep exit up hill

A nice easy one for a change

Another clean one

Not as easy as it looks, lots of very slippery green slime on this one

How many more

Another easy one

This one had the first half in cement base but then dropped off to rocks as seen in the pic

Great country views

Not an easy downhill entry, I could see flood waters had been right up to where I sit now

It's starting to get late arvo and I don't want to be in here after sunset

Again I was telling myself DONT drop the bike your on your own

Best line looks in the centre

Finally no more creeks but the road got bad, at least if I off it wont be in water

Moo on the move

Do people actually live around here

Rocks rocks rocks trying to toss me off

Am I going the right way to get out of here the track is getting harder to follow

Is was the right way and I made it back out to the tar without any problems,
I must say I was happy to be back on a good made road and relax a bit as I rode off into the sunset.

Videos of this ride now added

Mount Byron and Reedy creek is on the Western side of Mt Mee,
I was hoping to find a way across to the east of Mt Mee but had no luck with that, it was late arvo and I ran out of time looking,
Reedy Creek rd was just one of the tracks I rode which ended in a dead end and yes it was hard work as it snakes along over and over the rocky creek many times.
Stirlings Rd was another one but ended at a locked gate at a future Qld Gov power station site.
anyway I still had fun exploring

Nice pics. Still a lot of damage around.
For some reason I thought all the tracks / roads on that side of Mt Mee were closed off. Obviously not..... Might have to go have me a look....

They could have been very nice pics if I had got off the bike and used the better still camera instead of using just cuts from the video but I was short on time.

Do you have the videos up on You Tube or somewhere as I would like to see those?

Yes David I have video on YouTube,
The first 3.5 mins of the video is from another ride with another rider before I ride off alone,
sorry about the bad sound track I should have put some music over it.

Cool videos

Looks like a great place to ride off road. Maybe make it down there someday to ride as it's on our list of places. It would be all street riding though, but still a great trip I know.

Stirling Rd finishes just east of Byron Creek at the gate for the proposed substation. This used to be open and brings you out in the western side of Mt Mee on that track that finished at the creek crossing and locked gate for the same substation.

Not sure why it needs to be locked as it would give another access point in and out of Mt Mee. (Maybe that's why) We used to ride this area and the tracks that used to lead into the southern end of Laceys Creek Rd from Mt Glorious Rd as a big loop until they put the gates up.

A real shame about those locked gates, it would have made a nice and interesting ride from Somerset dam over Mt Byron and Mt Mee to the eastern side.
