Page 10 in the Bing manual goes into this in depth with a formula and chart for temp and elevation.

In short it says to compensate with the idle mix screw as SS says and then adj. the main jet.

Then it provides this example:

- Motor is well tuned in Galveston, TX (elev. 7') at 86 degrees; going to Denver, CO (elev. 5250') at 50 degrees would be roughly the same with a 145 main jet. If the temp was 86 degrees in Denver you'd go to a 142.

You could drop your needles if you didn't mind putting them back when you returned to lower altitudes.

I'm only at 60 ft above Puget Sound right now and I feel drunk. And I'm sitting on my butt.

Why wouldn't I still through in that tidbit of info? Some might not realize how the atmosphere stacks up. Rub some ointment on that ass for me and lets talk some more about riding at extreme altitudes!

Yikes. Sounds like a safe spot to try it, anyway.

Put my pack down to take a break at the top of the pass 18.5k (Thorung La for those who've been). Continuing on I'd covered three or four hundred meters before realising I didn't have my pack on. Larkya La was a similar altitude, but I'd been at 12k - 14k for two weeks so it didn't seem to affect me as much.

Altitude and pressure are not linear.

Many-many years ago (196x) my brother and wife and I and my wife, were driving up the Nevado del Ruiz in Colombia. The road goes up to 4.800 meters, close to 16.000 ft. Driving a Mercedes 220 - not doing well, but made it.
Our actions at that altitude: My brother, a peaceful kind of guy, madly arguing with us. My sister in law, a expert photographer, reloaded a already exposed film into her Rolleiflex. My wife getting crying attacks. Me, trying to restart the car with a lot of throttle and clutch, repeatedly trying to start with the gear in neutral. If you have to make decisions, it's a dangerous place.
OTOH I crossed many times with my R90S the highest point of the Venezuelan Andes main road, Pico del Aguila, at 13.500 ft, without any problem.

When I took my r80 to 16000 ft in Peru, I fitted a smaller main jet and hotter plugs, I reset the idle at 8000 ft, bike ran ok but big loss of power due to reduction of O2. Body was ogish but v tired all on dirt roads. Snow at the top.

Object is to keep the mixture within reasonable operating parameters so it will start at altitude and to reduce fuel consumption.

10k feet is NATOPS limit for not having O2 FYI. Hypoxia is weird stuff.
Any good helicopter aircrewman has broken that and other rules just on principle though.

You will experience the loss of power, but no tuning can restore that power - in simplistic terms, it is a function of the lower atmospheric pressure and the resulting lower oxygen going into the motor as altitude increases.
