Light weight batteries

So trying to wrap my head around all the options for light weight batteries out there I made this spreadsheet. I wanted to share what little I have found so far.

Standard disclaimer; I have no affiliation with any of the Makes or Vendors, all the specs were pulled from the Maker's websites when possible, if there is marketing Bull here sorry, this list is far from complete, use at your own risk, etc. I also looked the the "Flagship" models for each Make so I am not comparing apples to apples.

That said, if you know of other Makes I have missed, or Vendors with better pricing, or any other info to add please let me know and I will update the sheet when I can. Also this list was for the F800GS so if any of these would not work without serious mods (trimming tray is OK, tearing apart the bike is not) let me know and I will remove them.

Here is the link (hope it works):

For comparison, what does a standard battery weigh?

After looking around the unofficial weight I found was 4.7 kg, 10.3lbs.

I replaced the standard battery in my F800GS which weighed 4.8 Kilograms with the Shorai 18 amp hour which weighed 960 grams. You could use the 14 amp hour battery which is only 830 grams.

Even the "heavier" 18AHr battery is unbelievably light, saving almost 4Kg high up on the bike.

The good news is that it also starts the bike perfectly.

Until you pick one of these up you couldn't believe how light they are, it really feels like there is nothing inside the case. If I was a motorcycle manufacturer I would be all over this ... 20% of the weight and probably one third of the volume of the traditional battery!
