I sent you a PM too. Yeah, on my bike, I can't use the upper jam nut as the inner cable isn't quite long enough to give enough clutch freeplay. I added a washer on the top side in place of the nut. It worked OK.

I had a new inner cable made up an inch longer and re-installed the upper nut, now all is well.

Make sure you lever free play is within spec or you'll risk cooking your clutch.
