KE100 cafe racer in progress.

my girl has helped me design this bike and will be doing the painting.

we are also hunting down an old airhead *probably a r/75* for her to restore as a daily rider.

right now she rides an elite 80cc to work and steals my cb400T constantly

she needs to get her own bike im tired of her taking my hawk all the time



so yeah. some girls are really into bikes

I am!!!! You know I'm just messin' with you.?! The cool thing about this thread is TX got that bike when he was 13!!! That's awesome...my parents wouldn't let me near a bike/scooter and completly forbade me from riding. Yeah, I moved out at 17 and first thing I did was buy a bike. 1990 TW200. So this thread is cool to me, I missed out on what you're doing TX...keep it comin' Will keep my eyes peeled for an airhead in your neck of the woods. Haha yeah same here, only, I convinced my parents to let me get a motorcycle when I was 15, being the KE100 lol. Takes you back to those days haha.

so life kicked my in the back side and this project has been on hold. but its back on now and i just ordered a new front end.

a leading link front end from a sachs actually

Like what you are doing with the ke. I have an 85 but it needs a piston again. Anyway good luck with the build and I now have some ideas for mine. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down.

new front end made it in today.

its all steel so welding in my current steering stem should be a breeze

also i believe i can use the stock axle with just a spacer.







also i have an idea for a pipe...top secret though

if it is a cafe racer..remember the leading link was used for its long travel and that with a leading link when the brakes are applyed it actually causes the front end to unload/lift and not compress like a telescopic fork.

oh guess what i just bought

i hope it will fit. its actually for a 100cc bushmaster.

even if not im sure i can use the expansion chamber at the end of the factory header.

got the pipe in.

it had some rust so i may send it back. not sure yet.

also after looking at it im not possitive it will fit.

Bump. Dont want to wait another 6 months for the next step.

My expansion chamber is close to the same shape. I had to cut off one of the tabs for the toolbox to get it to tuck in closer to the bike.

yeah i lost my job there.... life happens like that sometimes ya know.

but im making good money again and doing work.

also i've shaved off just about every mounting tab not 100% necessary for anything for weight savings. i may run a small leather tool bag but im not sure yet.

I love a rebuild of any description, but your last post has me a little confused.
Your cutting off any tab or bracket that isnt necessary to save weight, but you`ve added that front end that will probably add twenty times the weight your cutting off.
Can I ask why your going for a leading link style front instead of a conventional fork set up. I understand that when braking this creates a sort of anti-dive to the front, but its only a 100cc bike. How much dive can you be trying to save on such a lightweight machine?
Please note Im not knocking your rebuild or ideas. Just trying to understand them.

haha the point has muddled.

it has transformed from the final idea being a cafe to the final idea being almost a brat style.

the front end was just a good deal i stumbled upon for cheap and i thought it would add a lot of personality

at this point im just bolting on cool bits and bobs and seeing where it takes me.

at the time i cut off all the tabs i was still aiming at hardcore cafe racer.



so how is this bike going to turn out now?

i guess well just have to see. i may still go cafe style but it may end up something all together different just kind of winging it but thats how all my best projects get done.
