I'm in for the Hood to WA Coast run,
then another night and a day through the Olympic Forest,....Extra IN.
Breakfast at 8:30am Friday morning will make for a cold ride around the mountain, if the snow is gone from the roads by then.

After tenting in <30 degree weather in a rather thin >40 sleeping bag,
I might look into Gerbings battery powered jacket liners,
if I can charge it from the bike during the day while riding.
It'd sure be sweet to be warmer at night without carrying a bigger sleeping bag.

I can so relate to this. I have a super lightweight down summer bag that was great for peddle powered touring because of the stuffed size and weight. But I froze my ass off every time the temps dropped below freezing. I ended up having to carry more clothes just to wear at night while trying to sleep. Last year I bought a new down bag good for 10 degrees. Surprisingly it's not that much bigger or heavier when stuffed inside the compression bag. What a difference! Sleeping warm, what a conceptAnd as a backup I carry a silk cocoon liner that packs into a very tiny bag. You wear it while in the bag and it makes a huge difference.

Wish I had the time to go with, at least my checkbook will be happier. And my live in accountant

Different bag for each season ($50>$80 for a decent bag) & a good mat/cot under you is the ticket...i hope!
I've heard of a few guys sleeping in their liners with an extension plugged to the bike (maybe whilst at a powered camp grounds).
AJ, i can take one of the kids' hot water bottles for ya, if you're taking a pot.

Ride report...

OK...haven't posted photos for years so here goes!

Friday the 13th, what a beautiful day for a ride.
AJ & 3cows met at my place, before going to the breakfast spot, where we met up with Throttle body & asrvivor.
Great breakfast, then called in to Gresham KTM to find out what was taking so long with AJ's "other" bike.
Headed over to 26 west, almost to Elsie, where we jumped on 103 to astoria...Excellent winding road.

A leg stretch & liquid stop.

Astoria to Raymond, around the Wa. coastal regions, with a couple gravel short cuts, to be rewarded with an Oyster bar at the end of it.

A good feed of Wallapa bay oysters, & a Macs.

Then onward around some more sleepy coastal regions to Aberdeen, (where a crazy wanker in a pickup nearly bunted me off the road, trying to pass everyone on a double yellow, with oncoming traffic) .

Onward we went on Cloquallum Rd/Highland Rd/Little Egypt Rd, up & over through Dayton to highway 101 to Hoodsport.

cont...

At Hoodsport we decided to pass on the restuarant meal for Friday nights dinner & get groceries instead, for a cook up at the camp.

We all loaded up with whatever we needed for a good night at camp, consisting of ingredients for AJ's cook up & as much beer as we could carry.

We headed out to Lake Cushman, & found what we considered to be a perfect camp spot, with just enough light to prep dinner & organise sleeping arrangements...those of us that slept!!

Lake Cushman.

Mike taking in the awesome mountains.

A couple of us managed to pitch our tents.

Even a smile, good on ya Gary.
