Wayah Bald

I was on Wayah Rd this Friday afternoon and saw what looked like the turnoff for Wayah Bald. I was on the Burgman, but I've been in the back way to Burkes Garden on it, so I thought it could handle this. Hmmm.
I wasn't sure I was on the right road, but I passed Wilson Lick ranger station and went on another mile or so before deciding to turn around. I hadn't seen anybody else and the washboard condition was tough in spots.
How far off the road is the station at the top? I think I was about 4 miles in when I rerouted...

The gravel road to the top of Wayah Bald is seven miles long and the old rock fire tower is about a quarter mile off of the road.

I bet those little wheels were fun on that road. Too bad you turned around. It would have been worth it. Beautiful view from up there. Now you have a reason to go back.

Burgman Up Wayah Bald

I would have kept going but I ran out of waypoints on my GPS for picking up my plastic on the way back down!

I wasn't sure I was even on the right road...
Good to know for next time!

Nice!

You didn't see any burgundy plastic laying around, did you?
There were a fillings missing when I got to the bottom too!

Your just lucky the bottom of my Burgman scraped the road smooth for you!
