That's Woody Herman and Tito Puente playing Mambo Herd for the soundtrack.

another memorable trip

thanks to cathy, duy, randy, jim, tim, al, and salina for the epic ADVenture ride. awesome places and now we can crossed those out from our list. hopefully we can revisit them again in the future, well worth it.

good to hear everyone made it home safely after enduring the windstorm, dust and cold elements...

cathy, duy and randy for riding at least 350 miles to mesquite, and another 125 miles to toroweap... you got our respect and admiration.

i'm ready to go to bed and uploading pics.

Does that mean the pacific crest trail that links Forest to Little Tujunga?

I saw an open gate and went up, only to have a ranger stop me about 10 miles into the trail and tell me I really should GTFO since ANF was still closed.

you probably the only we're aware to be able to get as far as 10 miles. any pics?

the information i have is all the dirt roads/trails closure in the burnt areas are still in effect till 2012 and further notice.

ac is pure pavement and there are areas opened but are only accessible from the highway.

really missed scd/pacifico..., though i am thankful i didn't take those for granted that it will be forever remain open. rode those areas for 3 years and glad to say i enjoyed the moments.

novos, awesome trip you did in 2009. good job....http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=500715

back to the regular programming

tim and jim did this on big bikes......

we took the long easy but fun way @ 25 miles from camp. the 2 guys were already sitting in the shade when we got to bar 10. if i ever try this route, it will have to be on a small bike.

btw, check my sig line "spot tracking link" to see our route (105 miles) to camp on saturday.

Grand Canyon the other North Rim RR

i started planning this ride since january of this year. we made an attempt at that time " http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...8376&page=1293 " and realized that it will be very difficult to do it without the essential provisions, such as fuel, drinking water, food, firewood, etc.

trust me, it can be done on a fully loaded bike if you have the proper set up.

finally, i found someone to drive my truck and carry 3 coolers with food and refreshment for 8 people, 30 gals of gasoline, 25 gals of water, 6 bundles of firewoods, etc. the plan is meet in mesquite and leave saturday morning. we broke the group into 2. the easier route is 125 miles (20 miles of pavement) and the shorter but challenging is 105 miles of pure dirt.

our objective is get to and camp at TOROWEAP on the north edge of the Grand Canyon
