Finally got my recalled wheel a couple of weeks ago. Dealer was nice enough to let me take it to get powder coated before installation.
Another nice thing is the wheel came with new bearings and seals. ![]() ![]() ![]() Now just need to schedule an appointment for installation. ![]() Mike

Gogswell, congratulations on your fabulous restoration! It is stunning. I am sure it took lots of patience and perseverance to take care of all the details.
I really like how the original look was retained, no extra polishing of parts or extra chrome. There is a fine art to knowing when "enough is enough" and not over-restoring a bike. The older style valve covers are a nice nod to the past, they are most pleasing! Cheers! |

I was reading every post to see if anyone had noticed you had the original wheel. You should have left it. The recall was a joke.

![]() I figured I would go ahead and have it replaced since I ride the bike somewhat frequently. Mike

The story goes like this. There was one guy in England that had an issue with the wheel and BMW recalled all of them. I was talking with a friend of mine who has been a BMW dealer since 1976 has never seen a problem with the early wheels other than one time they could not get the tire on the rim. Where you able to keep the original wheel?

I had to return the original wheel. I did get new bearings, seals, and a new tube courtesy of BMW. New bearings and seals were already in the new wheel. Mike
