The ROB today is not what LWA encountered. Today a Honda civic could drive the whole route without issue. That's right it's graded and well maintained from Yakutsk to Magadan. Unless its been raining a lot in which case yer f'd. The old summer road on the other hand is a whole different deal, the real deal.

I made it to Ankara, at Andi's house now. Tomorrow morning, I go to visit the embassies of the various 'stans'

I will take a bath, comb my hair & use my best southern charm, in convincing all of them that my visit to their country will be beneficial (if not crucial) to their ongoing well being as a country, and possible entry into the EU, NATO, and maybe, just maybe, if they act right, I'll put in a good word for them at Starbucks franchise headquarters!

FYI David at "Stantours" (easy to find online) got me ALL of my visas for all of the stans (including bizness visa for Russia, Turkmenistan and Iran). He was cheap, and he did it all while I was in Argentina- he only needed scans of my documents not the real things. So if you run into problems with that, you might hit him up.
