And he actually used this website to do research about the road. I've seen enough people get to go to Magadan, so I think it will be my turn soon. |

Hi Doug,
been following your dicking around and now Dirtster adventures. Planning on some adventure myself. Would like to ship my bike over to USA next year for touring around. I noticed you ship yer bike by airfreight. Could you point me towards where I can find rates etc? Do you always use Lufthansa? Thanks and cheers, John |

I got to Bulgaria where I was planning to spend a couple weeks, seeing Poly, hanging at the motocamp, servicing the bike, & getting things ready for the Horizons Unlimited meeting we were hosting. I fired up the shovelhead & rode it a little, Im sure missing this bike. Yeah, the sporty is better for bad roads, but I like choppers. Next year, I’ll take the shovel on another adventure.
A week of working, then Poly & I took off for a party in Montana, which is in NW Bulgaria. They have it on the shore of a big lake. Its always a fun time ![]() There were some guys I know with some old bikes there, but for the most part, the bikes that were there were newer, not as interesting to me ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

This home made one was interesting, & runs off of propane!
![]() On the way home, we stopped for a drink, & this guy pulled up, not noticing the steel grate was missing from the drain, & dropping his wheels in it. ![]() So a buncha guys came over to help get it out. It took quite a while, & the whole time the guys wife was screaming at him. It was pretty funny ![]() We got home, & found out that Janos from Hungary was a week early for the HU meet. He wanted to spend some time riding around BG, and just enjoying his vacation. ![]() We had a group from Germany stop by on their way home from Turkey. They had some cool GS’s. flat black, dirty, they looked perfect. Made me sorta wish I had kept the one I had. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

More people started showing up as the week progressed. We had several that came back after last years meeting, so Im guessing they had a good time.
We hadn’t expected Janos to arrive so early, and by Wednesday, we had to call in for a beer delivery ![]() Kitty was controlling the situation ![]() ![]() Terry, who did the Russian BAM road with Walter. We all got to watch him change a tire. ![]() ![]()

Of course we had to get out a couple of Izh’s & annoy the village goats
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Terry’s bike had a blown fork seal, so I bitched about his BMW leaking oil all over the place J ![]() ![]() Everything went pretty good all weekend, many beers drunk, lies told, ride reports, & a good time with good people. Only bummer was during Saturdays rideout, Andi from Ankara went down on some gravel in a curve, due to an oncoming car in his lane, & broke his collarbone. (he had ridden up from TR on his Jawa 350) Adrian was behind him, & made it thru, but the guy behind him on an Africa Twin went down, as well as Poly, behind him. He dislocated his shoulder, Poly banged up her knee pretty good. Other than some scratches tho, the bikes came out of it pretty good. The crash happened about 100km from the camp, so several of us jumped in a car & headed up there. Dealing with the cops was ridiculous. They actually wanted to fine them for crashing. Of course the car that caused it didn’t stop. Andi & Roman were at the hospital, & Poly was trying to deal with the cops. The rest of the group headed back, & we were there waiting for the keystone cops to figure everything out. They wanted to measure the marks, but no one had a tape. So they went & got one. But then, they didn’t have the forms needed to fill out, etc…etc…. Finally Poly & Ivo went to the town to deal with papers & cops, & me & 2 other friends rode the bikes back. I rode the AT, it’s a nice bike. I’ve always wanted one. Oh, and when the main group was on their way back, a guy on a BMW went down for some reason, & his girlfriend broke her foot. It was a helluva day. By 11pm tho, everyone was back at the camp. Andi arranged a truck ride for him & his bike to the border, & got home ok. Next year, I hope no crashes! As soon as the dust cleared from the HU meet, I headed to Turkey Doug

Thats Kosta. He rode that bike around the world last year. When we met a few years ago, he told me his dream was to ride a bike RTW, but he had to save up money for the right bike. I said 'why not take that one?'
so he did Im such a bad influence. ![]() here is his webpage of the trip http://fireinside.bg/ Doug
