A ride with Sweetgrass. NM

I moved to Santa Fe, NM a couple months ago. I was having some trouble figuring out where to ride. So one of the local inmates (Sweetgrass), took me for a ride. Started riding west of Santa Fe, to La Bajada.

Also along at the beginning was Projected on his new KTM.

Believe it or don't, but this is historic Route 66.

Looking back up, from part way down. Pretty rough road.

Sweetgrass coming up a hill.

This is looking back toward Cohiti Pueblo, and Lake.

Dixie Apple orchard.

The road we came up on dumped us out on Hiway 4.

then we were in the pines.... FR144.

Sweetgrass taking a pic.

there's a particularly nasty rock garden that I tried to get a pic of, but it I was too far past it to do it justice.

This guy blew the corner.....

The road to Espanola.

Thanks Sweetgrass for the guided tour. It was lots of fun watching you ride the big GS in that stuff. Much respect for your abilities..

noshoes, looks like you had a great time. I grew up in Northern NM but never did any off road riding. I think there is some sort of riding event taking place this year in the Santa Fe area. I need to look into this.

You have to love the "green chili" hell, just the mexican food in general is pretty spectacular....

Great report and photos.

Looks like a good DS ride!

Did you check out the Petroglyphs down the canyon near the base of La Bajada. There's a couple of nice water crossings (Santa Fe River) it's definitely worth checking out.

No, we didn't. I could use another tour guide, if you want to show them to me......
