Agrafa Mountains, Plastira Lake Greece

Video from the route

When the route is based not on perfect blacktop, not the cafe shops with beautiful appearances, not the nice restaurants and generally not all that I like to put a milestone for an interesting ride, then proposals such as that of John's for a Saturday outing in Agrafa mountains is something that i really love.

07:00 and we were in Lake Plastiras where the spectacle reimburse us for our morning awakening.

After some kilometers driving on roads turn right to Vrangiana and earthen path that lies ahead will lead us to one of the tops of Agrafa.

Where we find when we get this unique spectacle. From the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen in my life. Snowy mountain peaks bathed in spring sun was just peeping from the east, forests and hills dipped in a huge white veil and 2 pairs of eyes to try to capture as much as they can.

The chapel of a saint stands proud at the top ready to offer shade to the wayfarer.

Going through the lower clouds began to discern the path that would follow.

Which as we entered deeper into the mountain became more wild...

Spectacle like this one meets all the way...

Agrafiotis River, is offered with water from melting snow make him impulsive and beautiful.

Water gushes through the rocky mountains. There is no way to find cleaner water to cool your senses.

Arriving in the village of Agrafa we visited a kafeneio (coffe shop) in the village making our morning coffees and after we met informed us of some historical data for the region.

Statue of Anthony Katsantonis, chieftain during the Greek Revolution who was active in the area of Agrafa.

John enjoying his coffee

Panoramic view from Agrafa Village.

Pass at 2100 meters with views to breathtaking.

Attention needed to this roads

In the background, Lake Plastira

Wanting to move from Nyala and despite the urging of some local residents not to go because the road will be closed by landslides and snow dared so few miles above encountering difficulties overcome (logs blocking the road) and others eventually stopped us and forced us to go back. (snow blind spots in the street)

Continuing the route, and after we met the village Sykes, the road was asphalt and after some kilometers we found ourselves in the dam of Lake Plastiras. By the time show at noon we took the road back having made one of the most beautiful motodiadromes.
