Ouch! Hope you recover well from this. You certainly don't need any extra aches and pains while riding the Dakar.

Any more details on what happened? I assume happened while training? Makes me flash back to my ride a week ago, somehow managed to get my foot caught between the peg and something solid. Advantage for me is I am slow so I am just in pain and didn't break it. Never ridden with Ned but I am sure it is safe to say his is just a TAD faster

Well, that news came out fast!

Yup, caught my toe on a rock hidden in some sagebrush, it's the best break I could hope for. Actually not painful, unless I try to put weight on it... which was hard to avoid on the 60 mile ride out.

Full story to follow on the neduro blog... it's a good one!

take your calcium supplements and heal quick.

light training with zero weight on that foot should be okay.

P.S. that is EXACTLY how i broke my left foot 4 years ago on some tight singletrack. mangled the middle 3 metatarsals.

That sucks. You needed something else to deal with. . If you have a lot of swelling get bromelain (sp?). It really helps.

I hit a rock once with my left foot.
One moment I'm doing 40kph and the next, most of me is still doing 40kph.

My foot however stopped dead leading to quite a vicious and surprising leg swing.

No breaks however.

I think it helps to get the little things over with during training, so they're not a problem during the race.

Now, nobody tell him "Break a leg".

A sound philosophy... however, it doesn't always work...
