Where to catch ZZZ's near Birmingham on my trip to Tampa?

Could use some local advice...

I'm rolling through from Oklahoma to Tampa with a stop in Macon, GA on the way... I think i'll make it somewhere near Birmingham AL the first night (Sept 8th) and need a suggestion on where to stay hotel-wise...

I figure something in the $80/$100 per night range would work well...

Gonna be in the truck w/ the G/F and her 17yr old son for this trip... stopping at my Grandparents in Macon and her parents in FL.

There's a hotel across the street from Barber's. If you've never been, then you have to go.

Cheaha is just around the corner. If you dont have time for Barbers, then stay at Cheaha. They have a hotel, cabins, & camping.

For your trip, I don't recommend Cheaha because you won't really see anything at night if you are just looking for a place to crash, and it isn't that enjoyable if you aren't on a bike anyway.

On the other hand, in Leeds, AL (10 min outside birmingham on I-20) there is a Hampton Inn directly across from Barber's Motorsports Museum, (exit 140 off I-20) or the next exit (Moody, Exit 144) there is a Best Western and a Comfort Inn, both fairly new. If you aren't in a hurry and have a couple hours, check out the motorsports museum.

I live in office is a couple hundred yards from Barber Motorsports. I can vouch for the places I've recommended.
