Love the pictures everyone. I just went through all 50 pages! I grew up on Lolo Pass and have been on most of these trails on 'da hood. The only thing that takes the cake from the PNW is Alaska/Canada. After looking at all these pictures I have convinced myself to bite the bullet, Its time to buy another bike!

Is Gresham KTM still the place to buy a 990 Adventure? What is the process for buying a bike not in stock?

If all goes well I will be out on the trails asap! Keep the pictures coming! It makes the rest of us drool at work.

Welcome, n00b!!!
I bought my 990 in Gresham not quite 4 years ago,
Steve, Vint, and Todd seem a good crew.
Todd has been the same qualified mechanic all that time, and I always feel I've been treated right there.
I do many service things myself, but when it all balls up, or I'm getting ready for a big ride, they've generally done me good.

Yep, I plan on riding the shit outta the NW. Canada and Alaska are next.

Pssst: Get the 2011 Dakar 30th Anniv Cigarette Blue one,
if there's any of those "limited" models left.

If your gonna take advice from Jeff on the 990. Have them wrap it in duct tape when you buy it. That way everything will stay on when it breaks.

Do I have to get the KTM colored orange duct tape? Because my BMW Dakar took special BMW farckled duct tape or else I would get laughed at by the other BMW guys quoting wind speed velocity tear resistance numbers and such

Well if the obdr is in your future, you'll need the orange 15mph max tape. We didn't go faster than that. Although you could always double wrap the 10mph tape and make it really tuff. In all reality Jeffs bike owned the obdr. It was the beast that could. With all the little dings and dangs it kept running like a tank. So 990 is highly recommended in my book. Plus it carries enough gas to go from mexico to Canada.

Question Road question?

Got a question for ya, Still Creek Rd. 12/2612 from Rhododendron up to Trillium Lake, is it open? Just looking for a route to get "CrashClays" KLX 250 off HWY 26 for as long as possible. Trying to put a ride together over Lolo Pass and then down the Barlow Rd. and out to Maupin.

Rode it a year ago, & just passed by it yesterday, wishing I had time.
A year ago tells you nothing about a possible washout,
but it was a good gravel road with just a few bumps early last year.

The FS2613 road starts from Still Creek Rd near Trilliam Lake and rides the North border of the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness.
It goes in about 20+ miles back to a small but pretty Kinzel Lake.
It's an out-&-back road only, but borders the S-H Wilderness most of the way, so it's very cool.
Good dirt-only road with a few rocky sections, but nothing like Bennett Pass

PS: PM Squishy, threecows and mtbdemon about Still Creek Rd.
Chances are very good one of these FFs have ridden it very recently.

It was a bit darker, when I was up there last night,
and the cell phone pic is definitely a bunch crappier,
but I just had to get a shot on that rockslide roadcut.

More Pics from Bennett Pass

If any of you FFs go ride Bennett Pass Rd, that borders the West side of the Badger Wilderness,
you MUST take the time when you get a view of Jean Lake below you,
to climb the 100 feet to the top of the shale rock hilltop above you.

From this vantage point void of trees,
you get to see Mt Hood IN YOUR FACE,
Mt Jefferson,
The Three Sisters,
Mt Adams,
Mt Rainier,
and St Helens.

If you get there right at Sunset (and forget the good camera),
you can get a sequence of shots like these.....

Then,
if you zoom the crappy digital zoom on the crappy cell phone camera to the max,
you can get shots like these:

And,
just to prove you actually rode there,
you gotta get yer bike in a shot, too:
