CCCofVT 2-Day Ride 8/20, 8/21
This may be a bit delayed but wanted to post up a few pics on behalf of Dave and Bobby. First things first, this event was awesome! A big thanks to Dick Mitchell that hosted it on his property!!
Dave, Bobby and myself had arrived on fri and grabbed a spot in the field. Ray Attwood was already there and set up. If it wasn't enough that Dick was hosting it on his property, we were going around helping him tape off an impromptu moto course!! I don't have any pics of it, maybe someone else can post some? I'll put up a vid of a few laps a little later.
I think most people that camped friday night were up by 7 am.
Checkin out Wayne's Husky 310
Todd and Alex chatting. Yes, 7 am on a saturday really can be this fun!
Alex filling up her 2-stroke
Purchasing some of the latest CCC styles. From the left: Insanely energitic dog, Alex, Dave, myself, Ron, Wayne, and Ray
A couple local to the area, Kyle and Ruth-Ann.
Spencer, on the right, sleepwalking and hanging out with some of his riding crew
Dave playing on a mountain
Rob on his DRZ250 on the bypass
Justin on his KTM and Rob ducking under a fallen tree
We had run into Kyle and Ruth-Ann, later on in the ride, heading the opposite way. They had taken a bypass to shorten their trip by 30 miles, but things got confusing. After we figured out which way to go, they headed out with us. Ruth-Ann definitively gets the most improved rider award. She came out of the woods faster and faster and each time with a big grin!
The group photo. If you weren't playing on a trail then you were relaxing and riding through amazing scenery
On day 2 Bobby and Dave went for a relaxing day exploring with Ray Atwood. I rode with Ron, on his Beta 450, and Ben, on his Honda 450. After having an absolute blast on the first loop i got a flat a few miles from our end point. We rode at a crawl along the side of the road to the end point / gas station / lunch stop. Ron and Ben were super cool about my flat tires and very helpful! Notice i did say flats, plural.
Dave helpin me patch the tube. Starr standing to the left. The DRZ isn't fat, it's big boned. I was able to lean the bike onto its kick stand then body slam the seat, driving it into the ground. Instant bike stand! I knew I'd find something on this ride that a KTM couldn't do
Meanwhile others enjoyed lunch
The postponed DARC ride ended up at the same gas stop. You can see skip in the background, he was on the big bike route with Fred.
Jess clearing the mosquitos.
When Ray, Dave, and Bobby encountered the downpours they lucked out. There was someone standing in a shed that waved them in. From the left, Bobby, Ray, and kind shed owner.
Meanwhile, Ron, Ben and myself were tending my 2nd flat as the skys opened up. We were 10 miles into the 20 mile loop! A gentleman named Tom gave me a 21" tube at the gas stop that came in real handy. I used Ben's tire levers again, and he had a CO2 cartridge to get it up and running. There was just enough air in the tube to get it back to the gas stop where i could bring it up to 15psi.
Talkin to Ron about the ride.
So, those were some pics that Bobby and Dave took. Anyone else have any??
