The kenda 270 is my favourite front tire for dirt road traction and they last a long time and don't wear all weir like the knobbies do. The rear won't take much throttle abuse without ripping lugs though.

More from the Island
Today we spent the day on the top end of Island...My son and I hopped on the first ferry and jumped on the track about 30 KM south of Port Hardy..
![]() View from Vancouver Island looking towards my home.. ![]() A great view from this spot looking toward Queen Charlotte Strait.. ![]() ![]() My wife gives me heck for never being in the pictures so here is a token one with flowers and all.... ![]() On the Holberg road we bumped into this ADV couple at a very smelly pullout.. They were a long way from their Colorado home and seemed to be enjoying the Island... We chatted for about a half hour... ![]() The reason for the smell was this black bear in the roadside brush... We were undecided on Grant Bay or Raft Cove, both are on the TCAT route in the end we chose to park and hike the trail to the latter... ![]() ![]() ![]() The reward for the hike is most certainly worth it. ![]() Top shelf scenery.. ![]() ![]() ![]() When we headed out we bumped into the Colorado couple at the trailhead heading in and had another chat session...They had set up there camping gear at nearby Palmerston and rode back to hike the trail...On this perfect weather day we joked about how the weather is always like this on the North Island... After they left Clayton snapped a couple spy shots of one of their well set up KLRs. ![]() Almost all the bells and whistles... ![]() We logged about 250 KM for the day...

I talked to the place I bought it from and he forwarded the photos onto the rep and it looks like I'll be getting a new tire without too many questions asked. It just must have been a bad batch or something as kiff's tire blew knobs as well.

Question: So far I've seen pictures of BMW GSs, KLRs, and KTM 990's on the TCAT. I've yet to see a picture of a V-Strom, Super Tenere, or similar 90/10 type of bike. Would these bikes not be suitable for the TCAT?

I'm wondering if it might be a little too late to start riding on the dirt? Going on 68 yrs. old might mean it just could be! Anyway, you've put together a great RR. Thanks for taking the time.

Most of the Island sections would be suitable for the V- Strom with an experienced rider...We had a pair of Wee Stroms riding some of the VanIsle sections on the NI Ride without incident... They ran a little more conservative pace than some of the lighter, dirtier bikes and opted out of riding the gnarlier optional stuff...
