Thumb 2012 Kymco Xciting 400i

As I have stated in a few of my Downtown reviews here and elsewhere, I wondered what's keeping Kymco from making
a 400cc engine with about 40hp and fitting it in the current Downtown or Xciting.

Looks like they were listening!
On the 8th of next month, at the EICMA show, the new Xciting 400i with the new generation G5 (like Downtown's)
will be revealed, and it's not just the new engine, it's a completely new model!

Here's hoping it'll have at least 37-38hp, on par with the old xc500, and be at least 20lbs lighter.
MPG figures are going up without a doubt too.

Looks like a win/win situation for everyone, but we'll see in which direction this one went.

The only available picture at this moment says "sport is back".. and while it's no secret Kymco has been
chasing the T-max appeal with their Xciting from day one, I'd rather if they made a more comfortable, touring
oriented scoot out of it, and keep the sporty stuff in the Downtown/PeopleGT line.

Imagine what that engine would do in the current and very light People GTi which already RIPS with "only"
300cc/28hp!

Anyways, here's the picture and the related article:

Article (Italian) is HERE.

That would be nice I rekn. A smaller, lighter Tmax (or Downtown with YET MORE grunt!), without the pricetag.

the bad news is it probably won't be available in the USA like the the DT 300I ABS. I believe Kimco would have 2 winners with the 300 and 400 versions here with ABS brakes. I know I would buy one. I also like the Xciting 250. I almost broke down and purchased a used one last week but it was sold before I got there. The problem I see with the new xcitings is that it is a not a sport scooter but they are trying to make it one with the short wind shield that is useless. The 07 I almost purchased has the larger shield like the new ones should have. The xciting is a decent cruiser why try to make it something else.

Are you sure? I check with my local Kymco dealer about 2 months ago and he told me it was not available here with ABS brakes. Is it a 2012 model ?

Alright. I just called them and they verified that the orange DT 300I in their show room did have ABS.

If you want a second opinion...it is Castle Powersports

I picked up a GTi 300 last weekend and have ridden it to work this week. It's incredible. Handles like a sport bike. Tons of grunt off the line. 5 dollars has taken me 100 miles so far.

WE in the USA just hope for products already available other places to be sold here. Our government is so stupid that they get in the way of everything and then wonder why our economy is in trouble. All they would have to do would be to get out of the way of those who can spark the economy. We have regulated everything into extinction . So new products have to jump through so many hoops that most manufacturers just will not deal with it.
