Switching fork springs

I'm going to purchase some stiffer fork springs for my 5.5 950A. I'm 215lbs solo. With a passenger and luggage you can about double that. Can anyone recommend a spring size? Whats the stiffest spring I can go without shaving down my stoppers. How does one go about shaving the stoppers? Thanks for the info.

I just got a set of .60 kg/mm fork springs from Slavens Racing that fit in my 2011's forks without shaving the spring guides.

My '04's guides had to be shaved for .60's.

It's easy: With the caps off, springs out and forks bottomed, simply unscrew the black hydraulic stops from the damper rod.
I chucked mine in a lathe and went to town with a wood rasp, then smoother files and finally sandpaper.

As far as spring rate, there are experts here who can recommend something.

.64 from Superplush

I'm about the same weight and installed these before the KTM Rally in Tahoe. Big improvement after I dialed down the compression which was too high since I was trying to compensate for the stock springs.

I weigh the same and went with the .54's which fit right in with no modifications. The front does not sag as much nor dives as much under breaking. Yet it's still plush enough on the road. I also had my forks revalved by a savvy KTM suspension guy. Mines an 04 too. It's perfect now. Unless your hard core off road and pounding your bike the 58+ are too heavy.

Thanks. I think .54 is the way to go.
